Our Top Bets for College Football This Weekend

NCAA Football Week 8 Odds and Predictions for the Best Five Games of this Week

Written by on October 19, 2022

After a crazy Week 7, we’re now on to Week 8 of the college football season. In taking a look at this weekend’s slate of games, we’ve found our Top 5 games for you to bet on. Best of luck!

Top Bets for College Football 2022

Iowa @ Ohio State (-29)

We all know that Iowa could be one of the worst offensive teams in the country. The Ferentz family knows that they have to grind the clock out to win games, and that’s what Iowa does. They rely heavily on their defense and run, run, run the ball on offense.

While that is the game plan that many seem to have when they play Ohio State, it hasn’t worked for anyone else yet. Iowa is only giving up just under ten points per game, while Ohio State is averaging nearly 50.

Iowa has yet to see an offense like Ohio State’s, though. The last time these two met, Iowa beat the Buckeyes by over 30 points. It’s payback time for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State wins big and covers the spread.

Minnesota @ Penn State (-4.5)

We found another Big 10 game that we like. Minnesota has lost two in a row and hasn’t looked good in either. We’re not sure who’ll be under center for the Golden Gophers, as Tanner Morgan left last weekend’s game with a head injury.

Penn State was embarrassed by the Michigan Wolverines. Heading back to Happy Valley and playing Minnesota is just what Penn State needed. Their running attack will give Minnesota fits. Even if Morgan plays, we like Penn State to win and cover.

Mississippi State @ Alabama (-21.5)

We all love talking about the Mike Leach vs. Nick Saban matchup. However, Leach could be in trouble, as no one wants to face Alabama after a Tide loss. Alabama put up 49 points against a Tennessee defense that wasn’t that bad. Mississippi State’s defense isn’t as good as Tennessee’s.

Leach is coming off a loss against Kentucky, so the Bulldogs want to get back on the winning track. Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen. The Tide rolls in this one and wins by 28.

UCLA @ Oregon (-6)

Oregon has been one of the best teams in the country since getting destroyed at Ohio State in Week 1. UCLA has finally become the team that many thought they would be when Chip Kelly took over. Kelly will be back in his old stomping grounds on Saturday for a huge Pac-12 matchup.

We think this will be a very tight game, and it could go either way. For that reason, we’re going to take UCLA. Even if the Ducks win, we don’t think they’ll cover the spread.

Syracuse @ Clemson (-12.5)

It has been a long time since Syracuse has played in a meaningful game this late in the season. Both teams come into this one undefeated.

Unfortunately for Syracuse, they have to make the trip to Death Valley. Even though Clemson hasn’t lost yet, any tough game that they’ve been in has been very tight.

We think that trend will continue, and even though we think the Tigers win, they won’t cover the spread. Take the Orange in this one.
