We are getting down to the wire in the college football season and still no closer to knowing for sure which 4 teams will be in the playoffs. Every week seems to deliver another surprise result, and Week 8 was no different. Ole Miss had control of the SEC West Division after Alabama lost to Tennessee, but they gave up that advantage after getting blown out by LSU this past weekend. Clemson struggled to get past Syracuse and are on the outside looking in, and all while having played one more game that the 4 teams ahead of them. There are some huge games coming this weekend that might make the picture a little clearer, so let’s look ahead to Week 9 and see of we can make some winning ATS predictions. With all that being said, it’s time to jump right into action so you can make your bets against the College Football Odds.
ATS Week 9 Betting Picks | 2022 College Football Analysis
TCU Horned Frogs (-7) at West Virginia Mountaineers
The list of unbeaten teams continues to shrink with each passing week, but the TCU Horned Frogs are still among the ranks of the perfect at 7-0. That has them sitting at #7 in the National Rankings, waiting to take advantage if the teams above them slip. They still, though, have to take care of their own business, which continues with a difficult road trip to West Virginia in Week 9 of the season. The Mountaineers are just 1-3 SU in conference play and out of the running to go to the Conference Championship Game, but they will still want to play the role of spoiler. This really is a chance for TCU to keep climbing the rankings, and given that they are 5-1-1 ATS this season, I like them to win and cover.
Arizona State Sun Devils (-13) at Colorado Buffaloes
It has not been a good season for either of these teams, as it now looks as though both are unlikely to even land in a bowl game. Despite the fact that they are both struggling, one of them needs to win, with the Sun Devils in as the pretty clear favorite for this one. While they are just 2-5 on the season, Arizona State has been a decent bet against the spread, covering in 6 of their last 9 games. They are also 8-4 ATS in their last 13 meetings with Colorado. Combine that with the fact that the Buffaloes are just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 and this one looks like a wind and a cover for the Sun Devils.
SMU Mustangs at Tulsa Golden Hurricane (+3)
Both of these teams will head into the weekend with a 3-4 record, with both also sitting at 1-2 in conference play. It goes without saying that these two are very evenly matched and that we are looking at a game that really could go either way. I think that Tulsa has the slight edge, despite being the underdog, due to the fact that they are at home and are coming off a very good win last weekend. The Golden Hurricane are 6-3 ATS in their last 9 games against teams from the West Division, but perhaps more convincing is the fact that SMU has failed to cover in their last 5 meetings with Tulsa.
