OG enter the OGA Dota PIT Season 4: Europe/CIS as one of the top-five teams in EU/CIS region. Although they have not yet reached the same form that helped them win back-to-back International titles, OG held on well surprisingly despite all the roster changes this year.

Across the last six months, OG have reached the finals of BLAST Bounty Hunt and OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division and locked in a bronze medal from OGA Dota PIT S2: Europe/CIS. They’re at the time of writing still in the race for the EPIC League Division 1 title, where they made it to the final six along with Virtus.pro, Team Secret, Team Liquid, Natus Vincere and Vikin.gg.

Virtus.pro might not be as strong as they were several years ago, but they are currently in their best form of the year. Like OG, VIkin.gg are still in the race for the EPIC League Division 1 title, although they are in a much better spot than their European counterparts.

Vikin.gg entered the EPIC League Division 1 playoffs as the first seed after they won the group stage with a 7-2 record and 16-7 map differential. It’s worth noting that VP have only recently found their form, which does not necessarily mean they will manage to keep at this pace for long.

Even though VP are undoubtedly in better form, the current betting odds offered on OG are fat too high to pass on. Regardless of their occasional slip-up, they’re still a team that fields some of the biggest talents in the world which makes it very difficult to bet against them.

Prediction: OG to win

Team Nigma Vs Vikin.gg – Tuesday, December 15 – 22:00 CET

Team Nigma have met with Vikin.gg five times this year and won all but one fixture, which ended in a draw. That run includes four consecutive wins for Nigma, although it’s worth noting that all of the last three ended in all three maps played.

Nigma and Vikin.gg have last met last Thursday during the EPIC League Division 1 group stage. Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi and co. won the match with 2-1 and as the final score would suggest, it was far from a one-sided affair.

There are even arguments to be made Vikin.gg should have won 2-0 and perhaps they would have if they hadn’t choked on the first map where they held a 4.1k net worth lead before they blundered the late-game and fell apart. Regardless, it was a solid effort from Vikin.gg who went on to finish the group stage in second place with a very solid 6-3 record and 14-10 map differential.

On paper, Nigma are the stronger team, but we are not ready to go all-in on them, largely because they tend to be very inconsistent with their performances. The online format might have something to do with their lack of consistency, but that’s hardly an excuse since this match will be played online.

Viking.gg, on the other side, are a very exciting team to follow since they can defeat anyone on a good day, however, most of their success comes from taking advantage of opponents’ mistakes rather than raw quality. That is not to say they’re a bad team, but they’re still individually outclassed by Dota 2 top dogs such as Nigma, Team Secret and OG.

This fixture seems like a complete coin-flip and while we are leaning more towards Nigma to take it home, betting on over 2.5 maps is a much safer bet. Both teams regularly drop maps in their fixtures and since all of their last three clashes ended in three-maps played, this trend will likely continue into the next week.
