Betting Predictions for the CONCACAF Qualified Teams to the FIFA World Cup

Betting Predictions for the CONCACAF Qualified Teams to the FIFA World Cup

Written by on April 1, 2022

The United States, Mexico, and Canada have locked down spots in the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Costa Rica has a chance to secure a spot, but Los Ticos must play in a tournament to determine which team will grab the WC berth. For now, only the U.S., the Mexicans, and the Canadians will play in Qatar. Check out FIFA World Cup odds on qualified CONCACAF teams to win the World Cup, analysis, and WC predictions.

Teams Qualified to the World Cup and their Odds To Win

  • USA +11000

The United States offers the lowest odds of any CONCACAF World Cup participant. At the odds, the U.S. is still a big time underdog to win the World Cup.

The Americans aren’t a bad soccer team. But we shouldn’t read too much into the United State’s qualifying for the WC. No doubt, the CONCACAF is one of the worst FIFA leagues in the world.

So the fact the United States has made the World Cup doesn’t mean much. How will Team USA perform in the WC? Based on their horrible performance versus Costa Rica, forget it. The Americans shouldn’t win a single match.

Now, that could change because Team USA might get a favorable draw. But even with a favorable draw, the worst qualifying team from UEFA is better than the Americans. The United State’s top player, Christian Pulisic, isn’t even one of the top five players on Chelsea, his club team.

World Cup Prediction: Group Stage

  • Mexico +13000

The odds on Mexico make them much more playable than the odds on the United States. First, the Mexicans are the better overall team.

Yes, the U.S. has beaten Mexico in 3 of the last 4 head-to-head matchups with a draw. But Mexico has more international experienced players, the better group of goalkeepers, and better soccer programs in their country than what the U.S. has in theirs.

El Tri is a legit underdog contender to make it to the Round of 16. They shouldn’t get past the Round of 16, but if the draw is favorable, they can get out of their group.

So that’s the way we’ll call it. Mexico pulls off a group shocker and marches to the Round of 16.

World Cup Prediction: Round of 16

  • Canada +22000

Canada dominated CONCACAF FIFA Qualifying, but, somehow, the Canadians are the longest shot on the board from the North American League to win the World Cup.

There are reasons why. First, Canada is cold. Qatar isn’t. Canada has a lot of trees. Qatar is a desert. So the Canadians must play in an unfamiliar environment.

Second, Mexico caught Canada for the top spot in the CONCACAF. Both teams finished with 28 points, which means the Mexicans turned it on late while Canada built an early lead.

Finally, the Canadians lost 2 of their last 3 qualifying matches, 1-0 to Costa Rica and 1-0 to Panama. Granted, the Canadians probably didn’t have to win either, but they still lost.

Losing to Costa Rica makes sense because Los Ticos is a good team. But losing to Panama doesn’t.

There’s also the chance Canada ends up in a tough group. Even if the group isn’t tough, Canada is worse than any qualifying team from UEFA. So like the United States, Canada won’t get out of their group.

World Cup Prediction: Group Stage
