Odds have landed for pitchers to lead Major League Baseball in strikeouts this season and it’s no surprise that Atlanta’s Spencer Strider is a huge +190 favorite. Kevin Gausman is the second choice. But after Strider and Gausman there isn’t a flamethrower on the board that offers odds less than +1000.
Which pitchers should be on your radar to lead MLB in Ks?

Pitcher With Most Strikeouts Props
The Favorites of the Season
- Spencer Strider +190
- Kevin Gausman +900
Among the two chalks, it’s an easy decision. For sure, Strider is a boring pick, but Spencer struck out 281 batters last season.
Gausman struck out just 237. Kevin, Toronto’s ace, struck out just 3 more batters than Pablo Lopez, who offers much better odds at +1800. So in this case, although Strider’s odds are less than 2-to-1, Spencer offers the overlay number compared to Gausman at 9-to-1.
Go chalky if you want to back one of the less than 10-to-1 baseball odds choices.

The Fair Odds Choices
- Gerrit Cole +1200
- Blake Snell +1400
- Corbin Burnes +1800
- Pablo Lopez +1800
- Kodai Senga +2200
When it comes to the fair odds choices, we must be suspect of Gerrit Cole. For sure, the Yankees’ ace strikes out a ton of batters, but Cole plays in New York while Snell, who offers 14-to-1 odds plays in the comfy confines of Petco Park.
Snell was brilliant last season when posting a 2.25 ERA and striking out 234 batters. He could have his stuff working big time. If he does, forget it. Blake will have a massive shot of posting big time strikeout numbers, which means he’s a slight overlay at 14-to-1 odds.
Another overlay is the aforementioned Pablo Lopez. There’s nothing wrong with the 234 strikeouts Pablo posted, like Snell. Lopez offers a slightly better number than Snell. So back Lopez in this category if you agree he’s got a big chance to get it done.
One interesting note is that Kodai Senga struck out just 202 batters. Sure, he could get more run and strikeout way more, but the odds seem light on the New York Mets starter. Still, there are high hopes in Queens for Senga. So give him a look if you think he picks it up in 2024.
+1000 Pitchers
Fair Odds Pick: Luis Castillo and Freddy Peralta | Odds for MLB

The +2500 Pitchers
- Tyler Glasnow +2500
- Aaron Nola +2500
- Luis Castillo +2500
- Zach Wheeler +2500
- Hunter Greene +2500
- Freddy Peralta +2500
Luis Castillo and Freddy Peralta are the two choices here. Castillo posted 219 Ks, which was well below the number by Strider. However, Logan Gilbert could for sure improve this season, which might boost Castillo’s stats.
Peralta struck out 210. The Brewers could be going through some changes, which might make Peralta a bad play. But he’s throwing behind Burnes and Corbin will have a decent season. So give Freddy a look.
Also, you can’t go wrong with either Zach Wheeler or Aaron Nola. Both of Philadelphia’s aces are solid picks in most seasons. If Strider and Gausman falters, the door could open for either.

Pitching Strikeout Leader Underdogs
Top Underdog Pick: Cole Ragans +4000
The 26 year old struck out just 110 batters last season. If Kansas City improves their rotation, who knows, though?
Ragans has serious stuff and if he can get some help either from the BP or a more strategic starting rotation, he could use more of that stuff. Pitchers respond best when the pressure is low and because he’s the Royals’ ace, the pressure is always on Ragans.

Second Underdog Pick: Tarik Skubal +5000
Skubal should be sitting on a breakout season. Stats wise, he broke out in 2023 when he threw down a 2.80 ERA and a .90 WHIP. The 102 Ks weren’t close to Strider’s number.
But that was 2023. At the 50-to-1 odds, Skubal for sure deserves a look if you’re an underdog player.

Go for Broke Underdog Pick: Walker Buehler
Buehler threw in just 12 games last season. But check it out . . . he struck out 58 batters. 58 strikeouts in 65 innings won’t get it done, of course, but Buehler is on the way back. The never-ending purse full of money that are the Los Angeles Dodgers decided to stick with Walker after the injury.
They see something in him. Buehler for sure qualifies as the swing for the fences pick. 80-to-1 odds mean he probably doesn’t come close, but that’s why he’s our go for broke pick.
