Top MLB Betting Picks of the Week (June 12-18)

It’s a brand-new week of major league baseball, and that means it’s time to start planning our betting plays by choosing the top picks from a very busy calendar. You guys may have a different way of going about things, but I like to start the week by looking at the action for each day and choosing just one game that really jumps out. I have already done that for this week’s games, and am now going to share them with all of you. Let’s hope we get some winners and continue building our bankroll.

Monday MLB Pick – Nationals over Braves

The Washington Nationals and Atlanta Braves are both coming into this week on 3-game losing skids, but it is the Nationals who appear to be the most likely of the two teams to snap out of it. Stephen Strasburg (7-2, 2.80 ERA) has been magnificent this season, and I think he will be able to shut down the Braves and lead his team to a comfortable win.

Tuesday MLB Pick – Red Sox over Phillies

It has been a bit of a rollercoaster return from injury for David Price (1-1, 5.29 ERA), as his positive start was essentially wiped out by the Yankees who hit him hard last time out. They have done that to a lot of good pitchers this season, and I think Price will have a much better time of it against the anemic bats of the Phillies.

Wednesday MLB Pick – Rockies over Pirates

Over the past few seasons, the Colorado Rockies have had a great offense, but very little defense to go with it. They have also not been a very good team on the road. Both of those things have changed this season, particularly the road record, with Colorado going 24-11 away from home so far. I like them to add to that win total in Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

Thursday MLB Pick – Yankees over A’s

This is quite possibly the lock of the week, and a potential sweep in the making. You have the highest scoring team in baseball going against a team that leaks runs at an alarming rate. Yes, the Yankees are on the road, but I think they will pile on the misery in this series.

Friday MLB Pick – Indians over Twins

This should be a fun series to watch, and while I expect it to be a close one, this game might prove to be the exception to the rule. We appear to have a bit of a pitching mismatch in this one, with Carlos Carrasco of the Indians a much better bet than Nik Turley of the Twins. Turley was hammered in his last outing, which was also his first start of the season.

Saturday MLB Pick – Blue Jays over White Sox

Both of these teams find themselves in the cellar of their respective divisions, but there are a couple of reasons to like Toronto here. The Jays do have a winning home record, while the Sox are awful on the road. I also like Marcus Stroman (7-2, 3.09 ERA) to get the win here.

Sunday MLB Pick – Cubs over Pirates

While the Chicago Cubs have a losing record versus the Pirates this season, they did take 2 of 3 from them the last time they were in Pittsburgh. John Lackey has struggled a little this season, and perhaps it’s a hunch, but I think he is going to have a good game on Sunday.
