NBA 2023 Rumors Trade & Deadline News in Week 18

With the trade deadline now in the rearview mirror and the All-Star Game now just a matter of days away, a lot of the chatter in the league has dropped to little more than a murmur. This feels like a time when it is the calm before the storm, as once the break is over, we will be heading into the homestretch in the regular season, which is when the battle for NBA playoff spots will really begin to heat up. While the rumor mill is somewhat quiet at the moment, there are still some stories worth talking about, especially on the injury front, as that could have an impact on NBA odds and how things play out in the final few weeks of the season. Let’s take a closer look at some of the big NBA stories making headlines right now.

Curry Injury Update

The Golden State Warriors are currently stuck in the play-in zone, although just a single game out of the top 6. They have won 6 of their last 10 games, but they have been without Stephen Curry since for the last 10 days, and it looks as though they will need to make do without him for a little while longer. Curry has already said that he will miss the first game back after the All-Star Game, and went on to say that his absence could be even longer than that. While the Warriors are not where they want to be right now, they are not going to rush their star player back and risk losing him for longer.

Setback for DeRozan

We have known for a while that DeMar DeRozan has been dealing with a hip injury, as this is a situation that has been going on for about a month now. Things did seem to be getting better, but DeRozan was forced out of the loss to the Orlando Magic on Monday night, once again claiming that his hip was bothering him. As for the seriousness of the injury, the player seems to be playing it down at the moment, as he said that he is not ruling out playing again this week, which would include playing in the ASG.

Holiday to the Mavericks?

While the trade deadline has passed, there are still some moves that can be made. One such move seems to be in the works, with the Houston Rockets buying out the contract of veteran guard, Justin Holiday. The rumor now is that he will be joining the Dallas Mavericks, although that move won’t happen till after the All-Star break, This is not really a huge move for Dallas, but rather one that will give them some depth heading into the postseason.

Crowder to Debut After the ASG

Those of you waiting to see Jae Crowder in a Milwaukee Bucks uniform are going to need to wait a little longer to see his debut. Given that Crowder has been sitting out all season after having a fallout with the Phoenix Suns, a few extra days is probably not going to be that much of an issue. While some thought we might see him on the court this week, it is now official that he will not be out there until after the ASG.
