Written by on August 27, 2020

Football season is just about here. One of the more interesting future prop bets is on which player will win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. Super Bowl winning Kansas City has one of the top contenders in running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Check out our Top 5 rankings for players on offense most likely to win the NFL ROY so you can make your bets against their odds to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year!

Ranking the Top 5 Offensive Rookie of the Year Candidates Entering 2020 NFL Season

Top 5 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Contenders

  1. QB Joe Burrow – Cincinnati Bengals

The Heisman Trophy winning quarterback from LSU has a real shot to take the Rookie of the Year. Last season, Kyler Murray won the award. A case can be made that Burrow has more weapons than Murray had in 2019. But we can’t look past the fact that Joe didn’t get the benefit of playing in a preseason game. Still, Burrow knows how to win, and you won’t find a player with a better work ethic.

  1. RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire – Kansas City Chiefs

Starter Damian Williams decided to opt-out. LeSean McCoy no longer calls Kansas City home. The Chiefs are all in with Edwards-Helaire. He projects as the one of the top five running backs taken in fantasy football drafts. Right there is a sign CEH could win the Rookie of the Year Award.

If he gets 20 to 25 touches a game, Joe Burrow will have to have a monster season to beat him.

  1. WR Jerry Jeudy – Denver Broncos

Jeudy’s got a huge shot to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year. So much so, that we rank him third ahead of Jonathan Taylor and Tua Tagovailoa. Why Jeudy instead of CeeDee Lamb or Henry Ruggs III?

Double-J is the best route runner in this draft class. From Day 1 he’ll be Drew Lock’s top target, and he rarely, if ever, drops passes.

  1. RB Jonathan Taylor – Indianapolis Colts

It could take time for Taylor to get the required carries. Unlike Edwards-Helaire, JT must play behind Marlon Mack in Week 1. If he performs well with the carries he does get in the first few weeks, Taylor could become the Colts’ early down back.

He didn’t show an ability to catch passes well enough to make him an every down back. But he’s a good blocker, which means he’ll get a chance.

  1. QB Tua Tagovailoa – Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins probably won’t even start Tua, which is why we rank him fifth. Tagovailoa has a history of injuries. In fact, he’s coming off a couple of devastating injuries in his first season in Miami. Not only that, but Miami has a so-so offensive line. It’s not as bad as it was a couple of seasons ago.

It’s still plenty bad. Throwing your injury-prone rookie franchise quarterback onto the field behind a suspect offensive line doesn’t seem like the way to go.
