The Eagles boast the best offensive line in football. Philadelphia sent three players along the O-line to the Pro Bowl. Right tackle Lance Johnson, center Jason Kelce, and left guard Landon Dickerson all notched tickets to the NFL celebration game.

Not only that, but Jalen Hurts is a finalist for NFL MVP. Also, the defense demolished the Giants, holding NYG to 7 points in a 38-7 victory.

Then in the NFC Championship, Philadelphia held the San Francisco 49ers to 7 points in a 38-7 win. The final reason why the Eagles can win the Lombardi Trophy is because they were the best team during the regular season. There’s no reason to believe the Eagles take a backward step in the season’s final contest.  

Why you shouldn’t back the Philadelphia Eagles to win the Super Bowl

Philadelphia looked great when beating up the Giants. But we have to take a deeper dive into the win versus the 49ers before saying we should back the Eagles. 

Philadelphia converted a fourth down play into a first and ten inside the 49ers’ five yard line. If San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan had thrown the red replay flag, Jalen Hurts’ pass to Devonta Smith would have been overturned.

A single play like that can change a game and in his case, it did.  Then once the Eagles knocked out starting quarterback Brock Purdy, things fell apart for the Niners.

Also, Andy Reid, KC’s head coach, has a couple of weeks to come up with a plan to take advantage of an Eagles’ D that allows close to 122 rushing yards per game. No doubt, Reid will come up with a strategy that exposes Philly’s defensive flaw.  

Final Straight Up Philadelphia Super Bowl Betting Analysis

Based on sentiment, the Eagles should offer odds way worse than -125. Most handicappers, at least most public handicappers, believe Philadelphia covers the -1.5 spread.

So if that’s the case, why isn’t Philadelphia offering odds of -140 or -150 to win straight up? The Eagles aren’t offering those odds because enough money hasn’t landed on the Eagles to change the spread line. 

Here’s the thing. If you like Kansas City, then play them at +103 to win straight up. But if you’re leaning towards the Eagles, jump on the -125. Current betting trends suggest money ends up on Philadelphia eventually.
