What is Kansas City’s Straight Up Prediction this Season?
At first glance, it looks as if the Kansas City Chiefs have a much more difficult schedule this season than they did last season. But we said the same thing before the NFL kicked off in 2022.
However, the difference is that the Denver Broncos should be a much better team in 2023 than they were in 2022. Not only that, but KC starts their regular season hosting Detroit and at Jacksonville.
Both the Lions and the Jaguars will be difficult to beat. The key for a successful Kansas City regular season straight up is to find defensive end replacements for Frank Clark and Chris Jones.
The two vets were instrumental in KC’s march to the Super Bowl last season. If George Karlaftis and TCU rookie Felix Anudike-Uzomah don’t step it up, the Chiefs will struggle to pressure opposing quarterbacks.
Kansas City should have a successful season. However, it won’t be as successful as it was in 2022. Sean Payton will find a way to upset the Chiefs at least once. KC will lose at Jacksonville in NFL Week 2.
The other four losses will happen at the Jets on Oct. 1, versus Philadelphia in NFL Week 11, at Green Bay on Dec. 3, and versus Cincinnati in NFL Week 17. At the end of the regular season, Kansas City will finish 11-6 straight up.
What Will Kansas City’s Against the Spread Record be this Season?
It’s rare that oddsmakers are so off on against the spread records for a single NFL team in back-to-back seasons.
In 2021-2022 the Dallas Cowboys went 13-4 against the spread. Last season, 2022-2023, the Cowboys went 9-7-1 against the spread.
Because KC went 5-11-1 against the spread last season, we should expect them to pull a Cowboys turnaround and go 9-8 or 8-9 ATS this season.
What Will Be the Over Under Total Record for Kansas City Chiefs’ Games in 2023?
The over under total went 8-9 in Kansas City Chiefs games last season. A similar over-to-under record should happen in 2023-2024.
