NFL 2021 Regular Season: Titans vs Jets Betting Analysis & Prediction

The Tennessee Titans head to the Meadowlands in Week 4 to take on the winless New York Jets.

Leaders of the AFC South, the 2-1 Titans, are at MetLife Stadium on Sunday to face off against the 0-3 Jets. New York is currently sitting in last place in the AFC East and were shut out last week in Denver.

The Titans are current -7.5 road favorites, and the total has been set at 45.5.

The kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm EST, and you can watch the game on CBS or DAZN. Let’s check out our NFL Betting analysis for the upcoming match between the Tennessee Titans and the New York Jets.

NFL Betting Preview for Tennessee Titans at New York

Oh Henry

The Tennessee Titans have a really mediocre defense, so they win games by dominating time of possession and playing ground and pound with the best running back in football.

Through three games, Derrick Henry is averaging 4.4 yards a carry and ranks first in the league in rushing yards. In Week 2 against Seattle, Henry absolutely went off, compiling over 200 total yards.

With the wide receiver Julio Jones listed out for Sunday’s game and AJ Brown banged up as well, expect Mike Vrable’s team to feed Henry all game long in an attempt to wear out the Jets defense. Last week against Indianapolis, Henry was given 28 carries. I expect somewhere north of 30 this time around if the Titans are smart.

Elsewhere on the injury report, Pro Bowl tackle Taylor Lewan is questionable (toe), and outside linebacker Bud Dupree is also questionable (knee).

Rookie Struggles Continue For Zach Wilson

Zach Wilson’s rookie season as a New York Jet has gotten off to an ugly start, and he’s already in the doghouse with a rightfully impatient fanbase.

This past draft’s second overall pick carries a loathsome quarterback rating of 51.6 heading into this matchup against Tennessee and has already thrown seven interceptions on the season.

In the Jets’ last game against the Broncos, Wilson was sacked five times and only completed 19/35 passes for 160 yards. Luckily for the BYU product, Wilson will face a less than stellar Titans defense who were exposed by Arizona and Seattle offensively in Weeks 1 and 2.

Meanwhile, the Jets’ biggest task will be shutting down Derrick Henry, or at least attempting to have him not embarrass them. The good news is despite New York’s winless record, they only allow 3.8 yards a carry, which isn’t that bad at all when comparing their rushing defense to the rest of the NFL.

Safety Marcus Maye is out three to four weeks with an ankle injury that he sustained last Sunday. Receiver Jamison Crowder is also questionable for Week 4 (groin).

Prediction

Although the Titans will end up winning this game, I actually think this line is a tad high considering Tennessee’s injuries. They won’t be explosive offensively in this one, and that will allow the Jets to keep this one within one score by the end of 60 minutes.

Hold your breath and back Zach Wilson and the Jets in Week 4. Take the points on Sunday in the Meadowlands.

The Pick: New York Jets +7.5
