2022 The RSM Classic Picks, Predictions & Odds

The PGA Tour tees up for the final time this week when the players wrap up the calendar year with the 2022 RSM Classic at the Sea Island Resort in St. Simons Island, Georgia. Tournament play begins on Thursday, November 17th, and ends on Sunday, November 20th. Here we bring you the complete preview for your favorite betting odds.

The inaugural event was played in 2010 and has been a part of the PGA schedule every year since. In 2015, the tournament began using both the Seaside and Plantation courses for the first two rounds, with players playing each. Over the weekend, the Seaside course is used for the third and final round of the event.

Talor Gooch ran away with the tournament last season, defeating former RSM Classic winner Mackenzie Hughes by three shots. The victory was Gooch’s lone PGA Tour win before joining the LIV Golf Series earlier this year.

The purse is marked at $8.1 million, with the winner earning $1.458 of the total. The winner earns the standard 500 FedEx Cup points and two years of fully exempt status on the Tour.

The Field

This week’s field features six of the top 40 players in the Official World Golf Rankings. Tony Finau, winner of last week’s Cadence Bank Houston Open, highlights the field. Joining Finau inside the top 40 are Brian Harman, Sepp Straka, Tom Hoge, Kevin Kisner, and Seamus Power.

A handful of past winners return to St. Simons to try their luck again. Notably, two-time winner Robert Streb (2014, 2020) hopes to win for the third time. The victories are Streb’s only wins on the PGA Tour.

Sponsor exemptions were given to Aaron Baddeley, Camilo Villegas, Chris Gotterup, Jacob Bridgeman, Palmer Jackson and Spencer Ralston. Gotterup was the 2022 NCAA Player of the Year for the University of Oklahoma.

The Course

The Seaside course plays as a par-70 and spans just over 7,000 yards in length. Seaside went through a redesign in 1999 at the hands of golf course architect Tom Fazio. The course runs along the ocean and features a links-style layout.

Over at the Plantation Course, the scorecard reads as a par 72 and stretches 7,160 yards. In 2019, Davis Love III and his brother redesigned the track to bring back many of the features from the original design from 1928.

Betting Favorites

The RSM Classic has served as a springboard for pro careers in the past, and it could do it again this week before we head into the holidays. With only six players inside the top 40 teeing it up, this tournament could be a life-changing four days for one pro that gets hot at the right time.

Finau comes back to St. Simons for the first time since 2014 and is now a five-time PGA Tour winner. Finau will be a betting favorite heading into the week, along with current FedEx Cup leader Seamus Power.

Kevin Kisner was a winner here in 2015 and runner-up in 2020. He might not come out as one of the betting favorites when the odds are released, but he should be on every bettor’s radar, given his history.
