Chelsea set to bolster their defense
The Blues have a new owner who wants to win. Todd Boehly not only owns part of Chelsea, but he also owns the Dodgers and the Lakers.
Both those franchises do whatever it takes to compete so it should be no surprise that Chelsea is on the verge of transferring top Napoli center-back Kalidou Koulibaly to Stamford Bridge. Koulibaly is a fantastic defender.
But the Blues aren’t stopping with Koulibaly. Thomas Tuchel’s crew is also working out a deal for Man City defender Nathan Ake. Ake and Koulibaly will make it very difficult to score goals against Chelsea.
Sterling bolts to Blues and Pogba completes transfer to Juve
The Blues aren’t just working on the defense. Shortly after City transferred Erling Haaland from Dortmund, Raheem Sterling expressed his desire to move on from Man City.
Last week, Sterling got his wish. Raheem now puts on a Chelsea kit. Sterling will serve as Chelsea’s top striker. Earlier during the window, the Blues loaned Romelu Lukaku to Inter.
Christian Pulisic now plays midfield. So transferring Sterling is a big deal.
Raheem to Chelsea wasn’t the only big transfer. Paul Pogba is out of Manchester United. Pogba returns to Juventus where he played for most of his career. Adding Pogba should help Juve, which disappointed in the deep Italian Serie A league last season.
Could Pulisic end up at Juve?
Pogba isn’t the only Premier League star who could end up playing for Juventus. Supposedly, Maximiliano Allegri has his sights set on transferring Chelsea number 10 Christian Pulisic.
The only American to have ever scored a goal in a Champions League Final has become a hot commodity since changing positions from forward to midfield.
Allegri is looking to bolster Juve’s midfield depth. Pulisic would have no trouble playing in Serie A. But what will Chelsea ask for a young player who had 6 goals and 2 assists in 13 starts and 19 total games? Transferring Pulisic won’t be cheap, that’s for sure.
Real Madrid willing to see Hazard exit
Eden Hazard is a fantastic player. If Belgium hopes to have any shot of finally winning a World Cup, Eden Hazard must have a great WC.
But although Hazard is a great player, Real Madrid appears ready to move on. Carlo Ancelotti’s Champions League winning team has put out the word that Madrid is willing to hear offers for Hazard.
It makes sense why Ancelotti is ready to give up on Eden. The Belgian star has scored 6 goals in the past three seasons. As long as Karim Benzema wears an El Blanco kit, Real will have no trouble scoring goals.
Hazard may also want to leave. So far, though, no team has made it known that they want Eden’s services. If Hazard stays at Real, expect Ancelotti to sub him when required, but other than that Hazard’s place will be on the bench.
