2023-2024 German Bundesliga: August 18, 2023 – May 18, 2024

To Win: Bayern Munich -289

We have an entire transfer window to get through. But although Dortmund, Leipzig, Freiburg, and Frankfurt, other Bundesliga contenders will add players, no team should improve enough to challenge Bayern.

The bottom line for the best team in the Bundesliga is that this season Bayern broke in a new head coach and manager, former Chelsea skipper Thomas Tuchel, and it wasn’t easy.
Tuchel had some growing pains. One of the biggest growing pains was dealing with Sadio Mane, his injury, and how Mane didn’t fit into Tuchel’s system.

But even with all of that, Bayern won the Bundesliga again. So what’s going to happen when Tuchel gets the players we wants during this upcoming transfer window and when current players like Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala grasp his system? It’s going to be hell for the other Bundesliga squads.

Second Place: RB Leipzig +890

The RB in RB Leipzig stands for Red Bull. That’s significant because Red Bull has taken over Formula 1. Don’t think for a moment Red Bull wouldn’t love to take over the Bundesliga.

Player-to-player, Leipzig can’t stand up to Bayern or even Dortmund. But that could change during the transfer window because Red Bull is dead set on creating a winner.

Also, Leipzig won the rights to Caden Clark. The 20-year-old American has unlimited potential. So if Clark develops, watch out.

Third Place: Borussia Dortmund +380

Dortmund has a lot of young talent, including 20-year-old USA player Giovanni Reyna. So if you believe Dortmund takes the next step, go for it.

However, before doing so, there are a couple of things to consider. First, Dortmund tied Bayern for the points lead in a down season for Bayern.

Second, the points Dortmund acquired was just 71, which in a normal Bundesliga season would be well below what Bayern acquires.

Third, the odds on Dortmund make them an underlay. There’s a chasm between +380 and +890. So, yes, Dortmund has a shot, but the odds don’t reflect their true chances of beating Bayern for the Bundesliga title.

Top Underdog Pick: Eintracht Frankfurt +10000

Frankfurt is a decent soccer club. We should be honest with ourselves, though. The only way for Frankfurt to win the Bundesliga this season is if Bayern, RB Leipzig, and Dortmund fall apart.

Even then, Frankfurt is a shot in the dark because if those three powers fall apart, SC Freiburg, Gladbach, and Leverkusen will have the same chance as Frankfurt.

The reason to make Frankfurt the underdog pick is because in 2022, Frankfurt won the Europa League. The team also has a great goalie in Kevin Trapp and good, young forward in French player Randal Kolo Muani. Backing Frankfurt as the top dog makes sense.
