Top LaLiga Games to Wager On the Weekend (Aug 20th – 23rd)

Espanyol +185 vs Mallorca +155

  • When: Friday, Aug. 27

Mallorca beat Alaves 1-0 in their last match on Aug. 21. The home team shows a couple of draws and 2 other wins in the 4 matches before the victory against Alaves. Espanyol has drawn in 3 straight. Although Mallorca is the chalk, the road team won the last head-to-head. Not only that, but the draw in their last, over terrific La Liga team Villareal, is more impressive than Mallorca’s win over Alaves. Espanyol has a shot.

Soccer Pick: Espanyol

Alaves +320 vs Valencia -120

  • When: Friday, Aug. 27

Valencia is in decent form. They’ve won 3, have drawn once and lost once. Alaves is on a 3-match losing streak. The home team gets the nod.

Soccer Pick: Valencia

Athletic Bilbao +195 vs Celta de Vigo +138

  • When: Saturday, Aug. 28

On Aug. 23, Celta drew 0-0 in a match against Osasuna. Before the draw, the home team in this fell to Atletico Madrid and Real Betis. Bilbao has drawn in 3 straight. The 1-1 draw versus Barcelona in their last shows AB is playing well. The road team also offers slightly overlay odds.

Soccer Pick: Athletic Bilbao

Sevilla -140 vs Elche +400

  • When: Saturday, Aug. 28

So far, Sevilla looks like one of the best teams in La Liga. The road squad beat Rayo Vallecano on Aug. 15. On Aug. 23, Sevilla got past Getafe 1-0. Elche will struggle to gain possession and move the ball. If handicap odds land with Sevilla at -1 ½ and above even money, consider. If not, back the road chalk on the moneyline.

Soccer Pick: Sevilla

Levante +440 vs Real Sociedad -181

  • When: Saturday, Aug. 28

Sociedad has won 3-of-4. The lone loss happened on Aug. 15 versus Barcelona. RS may have gone into that match overconfident since Barca played without Messi for the first time since the great one bolted to Paris. Levante has drawn in 4 straight. Real Sociedad beat Levante in the last head-to-head. The home team looks tough.

Soccer Pick: Real Sociedad

Real Madrid -128 vs Real Betis +300

  • When: Saturday, Aug. 28

On Aug. 22, Levante forced Real Madrid into a 3-3 draw. The draw probably wouldn’t have happened if Real had resigned Sergio Ramos, which is one of the reasons we must consider backing Betis to pull off the upset. RM can score for days. They haven’t proven they can help their goalie keep a clean sheet, though.

Soccer Pick: Real Betis

Getafe +1 ½ (-159) vs Barcelona -1 ½ (+114)

  • When: Sunday, Aug. 29

After dominating Real Sociedad 4-1, Barcelona fell back to earth on Aug. 21, drawing 1-1 with rival Athletic Bilbao. Getafe has a great defense. The road team has held opponents to 1 goal or less in their last 3 matches. But the odds on Getafe make them unplayable. Laying -159 for a goal and a half versus a Barcelona team that has enough talent to win this by 2 or 3 doesn’t make sense. Barca is the play to cover the handicap.

Soccer Pick: Barcelona

Osasuna +141 vs Cadiz +205

  • When: Sunday, Aug. 29

Cadiz shows 3 draws and a victory in their last 4. Osasuna has drawn in 2 straight. But although a draw looks possible, Osasuna has won the last couple of head-to-head. The road team is the play.

Soccer Pick: Osasuna

Granada +180 vs Rayo Vallecano +150

  • When: Sunday, Aug. 29

Vallecano has lot 3-of-5, including their first couple of Primera Division matches. Granada heads into this off a fourth straight draw. Both teams have a shot at the win. But the road team offers slightly better odds, making Granada the play.

Soccer Pick: Granada

Villareal +360 vs Atletico Madrid -129

  • When: Sunday, Aug. 29

So far, Atletico has played like the defending champions with victories against Celta Vigo and Elche. Villareal has drawn twice in their last couple. Atletico won the last head-to-head. Don’t read too much into the victory, though, because it happened on Feb. 28. Villareal is a good soccer club. They also offer overlay odds. Give Villareal a big chance to pull off the upset.

Soccer Pick: Villareal
