City Still Overall Favorite

Despite being held to a 1-1 draw, Manchester City are still the betting favorites to win not only the Champions League but also the Premier League and the FA Cup. That treble has only been accomplished one time, in 1999, by City’s neighbors Manchester United. City are listed at -147 to win the Champions League for the first time in the history of the club.

Real Madrid got a bit of a boost on the odds to win it all after pulling out the home draw on Tuesday. They have won the most Champions League titles in history and are now +370 to win it again this year, up from +400 a week ago.

Heading into their first leg on Wednesday afternoon, Inter Milan are +660 to win it all, while AC Milan are +830. Since the teams share a stadium and both legs will be played at San Siro, the odds shouldn’t change too much after the first leg unless one team wins in blowout fashion on Wednesday.

Leg Two Odds

The second leg of the semifinal will be on Wednesday, May 17, in Manchester, England. City are 25-1-1 at home this season, with a Premier League loss to Brentford on November 17 and a shocking 1-1 draw to Everton on December 31. In the 2023 calendar year, they are 14-0-0 and have outscored opponents 49-7 at home.

Included in that run are two Champions League games, both second legs of ties against RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich. After drawing 1-1 in Germany in the first leg of the knockout stage, City battered Leipzig 7-0 at home on March 14 with four goals from Erling Haaland.

In the quarterfinals, they opened at home and took control of the tie with a 3-0 win over Bayern Munich on April 11.

Real Madrid have fallen into third place in La Liga, and they will not be able to catch Barcelona to defend their title. Road woes are part of the reason they have fallen behind, with losses in three of their last four league games away from Madrid. They were shutout 2-0 at Real Sociedad last weekend and fell 4-2 at Girona in their final league game of April.

In the Champions League group stage, they lost at Leipzig in Germany 3-2 and drew in Poland 1-1 against Ukraine’s Shakhtar Donetsk in a neutral site game.

So far in the knockout rounds, they have been better on the road, winning twice in England. They won in Liverpool 5-2 to start the round of 16 tie and then beat Chelsea 2-0 in London in the quarterfinals. They will need a third straight win in England to reach the finals.

The odds are against them grabbing a win in Manchester. MyBookie has Manchester City at -167 to win the second leg, while Real Madrid is +425. A draw, which would be extra time and maybe even penalties, is listed at +340.
