 World Cup Group E Odds

Favorite: Spain -120

Some may question whether Spain is the true favorite to win Group E. But on paper, it’s difficult not to favor the Spanish. After a tough 2018, where Spain could move no further than the Round of 16, the Spanish hope to at least make it to the semifinals.

Doing so means relying on young players Marco Asensio, a Real Madrid forward, Ferran Torres, who plays forward for Barcelona, Man City midfielder Rodri, and 19 year old Barca mid Pedri.

Jordi Alba is back to control the defense and Unai Simon sits in goal. The Spanish have a legit shot to win the World Cup. Also, the odds are fair. So if you like them, go for it.

Upset: Costa Rica +3400

Costa Rica winning Group E would be a massive upset. Los Ticos beat the United States to qualify for a play-in match against New Zealand. Then the Ticos beat the New Zealanders to score a trip to the World Cup.

Keylor Navas might be the best goalkeeper in the world but Los Ticos hopes to upset the Germans or Spaniards, Navas requires help. Costa Rica shows plenty of young talent. Who knows? Maybe the young talent steps up big time.

Dark Horse: Japan +1000

A situation could develop, it most likely won’t but it could, where Germany and Spain concentrate so much on each other that both forget about Costa Rica and Japan.

The Japanese sport legit UEFA League talent at the midfield positions. Ritsu Doan plays for Freiburg, Kaoru Mitoma is a Brighton mid, and Daichi Kamada plays for Frankfurt.

Then there are midfielders Wataru Endo, a Stuttgart player, and Genki Haraguchi, who plays for Union Berlin. If it all comes together and Germany and Spain implode, Japan could win Group E.

Predicted Winner: Germany | Predicted Second Place: Spain

Spain is a solid team, but Germany wins Group E. Germany’s young talent should come together well before their first World Cup game.

Young stars like Joshua Kimmich, Timo Werner, Leroy Sane, and Jamal Musiala will benefit from Tomas Muller yet again stepping onto pitches at the World Cup. Now 33, Muller is one of the greatest World Cup players of all time.

Also, Manuel Neuer is playing like he’s 26, not 36. Not only that, but Hansi Flick’s squad is under the radar. Germany always seems to play best when nobody expects them to.

Germany wins Group E. Spain finishes second. The Spanish are too talented not to make it to the knockout stage. Costa Rica and Japan should play a great match against each other but neither team is close to Spain’s or Germany’s level.
