Klopp & Tuchel Worried About Qatar World Cup Schedule | Soccer Betting News

2022 Qatar World Cup

  • When: Nov. 21 – Dec. 18

Qatar World Cup happens in the middle of the Premier and Champions League seasons

The Premier League season kicked off this past Friday. From now until Nov. 12, teams like Chelsea and Liverpool will throw down in the Premier League and the Champions League.

Everything stops on Nov. 12 so players can head to their home nations and prepare for the World Cup. Then once the World Cup ends, players have until eight days after the World Cup has ended to rest and ready themselves to play out the rest of the Champions League and Premier League seasons.

The problem for squads like Liverpool and Chelsea is that they have players who could very well end up in the final match at the WC. Not only that, but both teams will be in the running for an EPL and Champions League title.

Klopp and Tuchel worry the affect it will have on players

Blues manager Thomas Tuchel admitted that there was a small blessing in disguise regarding the World Cup schedule. Per Tuchel, players are already thinking World Cup, which means they’re in great shape at the start of the UEFA League seasons.

But players also aren’t concentrating as much on league play. Then once the World Cup ends, it may take some players time to dial it back.

Klopp echoed those sentiments. The World Cup can take a lot out of players both physically and emotionally. Teams that make it to the World Cup’s final match have about a week to recover after the most grueling and emotionally draining soccer tournament in the world.

The Liverpool manager’s contention is that FIFA didn’t think of the players’ overall health when changing World Cup dates. Per Klopp, players’ emotional and physical well-being should always be “top of mind” and anything else is doing players a disservice.

A normal soccer schedule is brutal, adding a WC Tournament could have a huge affect

A normal soccer season schedule for the top players in the world is brutal. Adding a World Cup could have a major impact. Every top Premier League squad boast players for teams that are World Cup favorites.

England, France, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany are a probable World Cup elite eight, which means all Premier League contenders, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico in LaLiga, and Inter, Juve, and AC Milan in Serie A, will have to work hard to get their club games back on track.

Paris Saint-Germain could struggle the first month after the World Cup. Messi plays for Argentina, Kylian Mbappe plays for France, and Neymar plays for Brazil. Those three players may find it difficult to get back into club and Champions League mode after what promises to be a terrific but exhausting WC.
