2022 Qatar World Cup

  • When: Nov. 20 – Dec. 18

Group A – Netherlands -160

The Dutch got a fantastic draw. The Netherlands lands in the same group as host Qatar, Ecuador, and Senegal.

No doubt, Senegal will push the Netherlands in their head-to-head match. But the Dutch, even if the Senegalese will handle the desert heat better than the Orange, should prevail. Netherlands figures to beat both Qatar and Ecuador by at least 2 goals.

Favorite Moves to Next Round: Yes

Group B – England -240

England could struggle to get past the Americans. The United States has enough talent, and a terrific passing forward in Christian Pulisic, to put a scare into the English.

But England owns Wales and Iran shouldn’t a score a goal during group play, much less beat the English. The odds are light on England to win the group. So, maybe, that isn’t a viable play, but England will move to the Round of 16.

Favorite Moves to Next Round: Yes

Group C – Argentina -195

Argentina should beat Saudi Arabia by at least 2 goals. A 3 to 4 goal win isn’t out of the question. Poland and Mexico are solid teams.

Neither will challenge an Argentina team with a ton of young talent. Also, Lionel Messi is older, wiser, and will provide excellent leadership.

Favorite Moves to Next Round: Yes

Group D – France -250

At -250 to win Group D, France is an underlay. The defending World Cup Champions should make it to the next round.

But winning their group could be difficult. France should dust Tunisia and Australia. Beating Denmark, though, won’t be easy. In fact, Denmark beat France 2-0 in the last head-to-head, an Oct. 25 Nations League match.

Favorite Moves to Next Round: No

Group E – Spain -115

Spain and Germany should fight tooth and nail. The Spanish seem to have more overall talent. But Spain is inexperienced.

Germany has become a +1000 choice to win the World Cup. If Thomas Mueller can lead the young stars effectively, and there’s no reason to believe Mueller won’t, the Germans should win Group E.

Favorite Moves to Next Round: No

Group F – Belgium -160

Belgium and Croatia will rule Group F. The Croatians finished second to France at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Croatia is a solid team but we Belgium is one of the rockstar nations in Qatar for this WC cycle.

With that being written, Belgium is an older squad. The Belgians may be tired by the time they face the Croatians on Dec. 1. In that case, Croatia could do enough to win Group F.

Favorite Moves to Next Round: No

Group G – Brazil -220

Brazil faces Switzerland, Serbia, and Cameroon. All three teams can make it to the knockout stage.

None of the three will upset Brazil and win Group G. At -220, Brazil is on overlay to win their group.

Favorite Moves to Next Round: Yes

Group H – Portugal -160

It makes sense that Portugal is the chalk over Uruguay to win Group H. But Uruguay heads to Qatar with a few advantages.

The Uruguayans should handle the heat much better than Portugal. That’s the first advantage. The second is that Portugal captain Ronaldo doesn’t seem inspired. If Christiano doesn’t want to play in Qatar, it will show.
