Dissecting Betting Alabama Season Odds for the National Championship Race

A Look at Betting Alabama Odds for the 2024 NCAA Season

The roar of college football crowds echoes as the road to the National Championship intensifies. The Alabama Crimson Tide, a perennial powerhouse, remains a focal point for bettors. But with a revamped coaching staff and a hungry SEC landscape, are betting Alabama odds still a sure bet for championship glory?

Among the traditional college football powers, no team went through as significant of a change as the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The greatest coach in college football history, Nick Saban, retired from the sport. Instead of hiring from inside the SEC, Bama handed the reigns of the most storied program in college football history to former Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer.

Is Bama a betting favorite to win the 2025 College Football Playoff NCAA Championship?

2024 Alabama Crimson Tide Season Odds

No team went through as massive of a change after the 2023-2024 NCAA College Football Season as the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Tide heads into the 2024-2025 season without head coach Nick Saban, arguably the greatest college football HC, even greater than Bear Bryant, in history.

Will the lack of Saban ball effect Bama’s chances of winning the CFB National Championship?

What will the fresh look Alabama squad do this season?

Alabama Crimson Tide Season Preview

The earthquake change in Tuscaloosa had nothing to do with players. It had everything to do with Bama going outside of the SEC to hire their next football coach. Former Washington HC Kalen DeBoer is the new head coach at Alabama.

DeBoer brings an exciting offensive mind and ability to motivate players to the Bama program. The offense in Tuscaloosa should be as good as it has been.

The question is on the defensive side where DeBoer’s Washington teams tended to fall flat against better offensive opponents.

DeBoer’s ability to maintain Saban’s consistent level of excellence will be the key to Bama’s season.

Check out changes on offense and defense along with Alabama college football betting odds and analysis.

Alabama Crimson Tide Changes on Offense

DeBoer transferred a couple of key players from his Washington team to Tuscaloosa. The first is wide receiver Germaine Bernard.

Bernard lived the shadow of Rome Odunze last season. Few wide receivers in the nation didn’t considering Odunze was a first round NFL Draft pick.

Bernard has talent and DeBoer knows how to get the most out of Bernard’s talent.

Offensive line center Parker Brailsford is a massive pick up for Bama. Brailsford knows DeBoer’s O-line cues. DeBoer’s O-line movement was the key to Washington’s success.

So Brailsford will be a line captain that immediately makes the Tide offense one of the best in the nation.

The Bama head coach is going to get the most he can out of Jalen Milroe. DeBoer helped Michael Penix become a first round NFL Draft pick and Heisman Trophy contender.

We should expect DeBoer to do the same for Milroe.

Alabama Crimson Tide Changes on Defense

The defensive side is where Bama could struggle. The problem is that Alabama lost arguably the top defensive back in college football to Ohio State, Caleb Downs.

As a freshman, Downs was instrumental in leading the Alabama defense. He was fantastic in the SEC Championship when facing Carson Beck and the Georgia Bulldogs.

The defense won’t be horrible, but it may not be SEC standards, which could be a problem.

USC transfer Domani Jackson and Michigan transfer Keon Saab are decent players.

But, again, teams in the Big Ten and former Pac 12 doesn’t play defense the same way teams in the SEC do.

Bama’s D has a massive question mark.

Alabama Crimson Tide Schedule Analysis

Win Total Odds

  • Over 9.5 +120
  • Under 9.5 -140

The schedule is no cakewalk. Although Bama doesn’t have to play Texas, Ole Miss, or Texas A&M this season, the Tide have a tough road game in week 2 versus the Wisconsin Badgers.

The Badgers will be much improved from last season. A loss is possible.

There are also land mine games like taking on Georgia at home, on the road against rival LSU, a trip to Tennessee to take on the Volunteers, and a road trip to Oklahoma.

Losing 3 games is a legit possibility given Bama’s projected defensive woes. The Tide go 9-3 during the regular season. So under is the play.

Alabama Crimson Tide SEC Odds +900

The odds on the Crimson Tide are decent. But Alabama must get by Georgia, Texas, and Ole Miss to secure the SEC title.

It’s difficult seeing any team beating Kirby Smart’s Georgia team.

The Dawgs are loaded this season on both sides of the ball and are, no pun intended, still smarting after being locked out of last season’s College Football Playoff.

Texas is also loaded. So is Ole Miss where Lane Kiffin has the best overall squad he’s ever had in Mississippi. Don’t back Bama to win the SEC.

Alabama Crimson Tide Odds to Win the National Championship +1400

Alabama could make the College Football Playoff. If that happens, watch out.

The expanded CFP mans that Alabama mustn’t win the SEC to score a trip to the playoff.

The key will be if Alabama can win at least 9 to 10 games. 9 wins should be in the bag. The tenth win could be an issue.

If you believe Alabama wins the tenth game, then perhaps a small bet on them to take the CFP at +1400 makes sense. If not, then stay on the sidelines.

We don’t know the cut off, but 2 losses seems like the max allowable.

Alabama’s D will be a liability early in the season. Unfortunately, Bama faces Georgia, Wisconsin, and is at Tennessee before October 20.

So we think 3 losses is a sure thing, which means playing against Bama to win the National Championship is the call.

NCAA Football Alabama Crimson Tide Betting Tips for Upcoming 2023 Season

Previous Betting News

The Alabama Crimson Tide finished off their 2022 college football season with a 45-20 Sugar Bowl beat down of Kansas State. But although the Tide won their bowl game, to call 2022 a successful season is nonsense. For Alabama and their fans, anything short of the CFP is a let down.

Will Alabama return to the College Football Playoff this season? Or is Bama due for another disappointment?

Let’s see if the Alabama Crimson Tide have what it takes to back the betting odds to win the National Championship.

Crimson Tide 2022 SU Record: 10-2
Crimson Tide 2023 ATS Record: 6-6
Crimson Tide 2023 Over Under Record: 5-7

What is Alabama’s Straight Up Prediction this Season?

Alabama lost 2 games last season, which had a drastic impact on Bama’s chances of making the College Football Playoff. Even though Bama boasted two of the best players ever to wear crimson, quarterback Bryce Young and linebacker Will Anderson, the Tide had to settle for a Sugar Bowl victory.

Young and Anderson are gone. So Bama could struggle to win more games this season than they did last season.

Then again, this is Alabama. If Nick Saban and offensive coordinator Tommy Rees find a legit starting quarterback among Notre Dame transfer Tyler Buchner, top returning starter Jalen Milroe, and Ty Simpson, the Bama offense will roll.

Simpson has the most upside, Milroe is the best rusher, and Rees knows Buchner because both were at Notre Dame last season.

Saban said quarterback is the biggest question. If the Tide gets their quarterback situation together, they could run the table. There are no world beaters on the schedule and LSU and Texas travel to Tuscaloosa.

But if QB becomes a problem, Bama could lose up to four games: vs. Texas, at Texas A&M, vs. Tennessee, and vs. LSU. Bama could lose a fifth, at Auburn in the Iron Bowl, if the quarterback situation is a disaster.

It’s difficult seeing Alabama losing more than three games. So we will go with a disappointing 9-3 Bama regular season.

What will the Crimson Tide’s Against the Spread Record be this Season?

The oddsmakers set perfect against the spread lines on Alabama Crimson Tide games last season. The Tide went 6-6 ATS in their contests.

Alabama is one of the most popular college football teams on the planet. So there’s no way oddsmakers will get it wrong this season. Unless Bama bombs, in which case our straight up prediction may not be close, the Tide go 6-6 ATS again.  2022

What will be the Over Under Total Record for Alabama Crimson Tide Games in 2023?

The total was off by a game. Without Bryce Young, and knowing Alabama’s opponents the way oddsmakers do, the total record will settle around the same 5-7 from 2022.

We’ll give Bama one more over than under game this season because oddsmakers could, especially early in the season, discount Bama’s offense due to the change at offensive coordinator and the QB questions. Let’s go 6-6 over-to-under.

Previous Betting News

There are a couple of things to consider when looking ahead to the new college football season. First, there is the level of expectation that is placed on the shoulders of every coach and team. And then there is the pressure that those expectations bring. It can be tough to live up to the hype, especially when you consider that the best teams in college football are in a constant state of rebuilding after losing players to the NFL Draft. There are some schools that are able to remain elite because they are able to recruit the best talent, while also having the best coaching staff at their disposal. The Alabama Crimson Tide are on top of that elite pile, but can they stay there in 2021? Let’s take a closer look at Nick Saban’s Alabama team for this season so you can be ready to bet against the NCAAF odds.

2021 College Football Betting | Alabama Crimson Tide Preview for the Upcoming Season

The Crimson Tide in 2020

Love them or hate them, you cannot help but be impressed when you look at what Alabama has done in the playoff era in college football. It is a period of dominance that is staggering, and which continued again last season. The Crimson Tide made it through the regular season without taking a loss and without ever really looking as though they might be in any trouble. They easily won the SEC West and made it to the Conference Championship Game.

While the road to that game was easy, winning it was not quite that way, as Florida gave the Crimson Tide everything they had before finally going down 52-46. That put Alabama in the playoffs, where they basically steamrolled Notre Dame and Ohio State on their way to another National Championship. No wonder they are favorites again this year.

The Crimson Tide Odds and Outlook for 2021

It seems as though we start every season talking about the holes that Alabama needs to fill after losing players to the draft. The offense was hot particularly hard this offseason, with QB Mac Jones now in New England, while RB Najee Harris will be playing with the Steelers. Besides those two, they also lost the WR tandem of DeVonta Smith and Jalen Waddle. Alabama will also have a new offensive coordinator, with Steve Sarkisian taking the Texas head coaching job. That’s a lot of holes to fill.

One the defensive side of the football, the mass exodus to the NFL was not quite as harsh, but there are still some slots that need to be filled. The thing with Alabama is that while we have this conversation prior to the start of every season, they never seem to actually slow down or take a backwards step. This is what happens when you have a school that is a major draw for 5-star recruits from all over the country.

The new kids are not going to get a ton of time to settle into the job. The opening game against Miami is a tricky one, as is the Week 3 matchup against the Florida Gators. Still, despite all the changes, the bookies still have Bama in as the favorites to repeat as National Champions. A lot of their success is going to once again depend on how quickly the new starters adapt to life in college football.

Previous Betting News

The perennially-powerful Alabama Crimson Tide might have won two of the last four national championships, but they were thoroughly dominated in last year’s season-ending title tilt and will now enter the 2019 season looking to get back on top of the college football universe.

Whether you love Nick Saban and the Tide or loathe them with every fiber in your being, you’re about to get some expert insight into everything you need to know about Alabama as they get set for the upcoming campaign.

Alabama Crimson Tide 2019 College Football Season Betting Guide

2020 National Championship Odds: +200
2019 Win Total Odds: 11

Betting Statistics

ATS: 14-1 (W-L) / 8-7-0 (ATS) / 5-5-0 (Home) / 3-2-0 (Away) / 7-6-0 (Grass) / 1-1-0 (Turf)
O/U: 9-5-1 (W-L) / 7-3-0 (Home) / 2-2-1 (Away) / 7-5-1 (Grass) / 2-0-0 (Turf) / 63.7 (Total)

Alabama only lost one game last season, but unfortunately, it was a seriously eye-opening 44-16 smackdown loss against almost annual championship rival Clemson.  The Tide did manage to record a winning 8-7 ATS mark by going 5-5 ATS at home and 3-2 ATS record on the road. Despite owning one of the best defenses in all of college football, Alabama played Over the total nine times, including a whopping seven times at home.

2018 Team Leaders

Now, senior running back Josh Jacobs led the team in touchdowns scored a year ago while fellow running back Damien Harris rushed for a team-high 876 yards. Gifted junior quarterback Tua Tagovailoa completed 69.0 percent of his passes while throing for 3,966 yards with a stupendous 43 TD passes and just six interceptions. Junior wide receiver Jerry Jeudy led the team in receiving yards while senior defensive back Saivion Smith recorded a team-high three interceptions. All of Alabama’s top team leaders are all back in 2019 except Harris who is now playing at the next level.

Offense

Alabama finished sixth in total offense, an identical sixth in passing and an even more impressive third in scoring despite finishing just 42nd in rushing as Nick Saban changed his ‘normal’ run-first offensive scheme to play to the strengths of his quarterback’s immense skill set.

Defense

Alabama was good a year ago defensively, but not as good as we’ve come to expect out of their normally phenomenal defense. The Tide finished the 2018 campaign ranked 16th in total defense, 33rd against the pass, 19th against the run and 12th in points allowed (18.1 ppg).

Outlook

Alabama has won 12 games or more in each of the last five seasons and seven times in the last eight seasons overall, so like everyone else, I’m expecting the Tide to reach the double-digit win mark again in 2019, particularly seeing as how their star quarterback is back under center. In addition to that, Alabama also returns three starters on the offensive line and their entire receiving core.

The bad news is that the Tide lost a superstar defensive lineman in tackle Quinnen Williams, along with a handful of other starters including Mack Wilson and Deionte Thompson. Still, Saban has made a habit out of replacing his top stars on the defensive side of the ball with more elite players that just seemingly keep the ball rolling in Tuscaloosa. Alabama’s toughest home game in 2019 will almost certainly come against an LSU squad that is hoping to take a big step forward in 2019 while road dates against Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Auburn look challenging, but not overly difficult in my opinion.

While the Tide have dropped one game in each of the last four seasons while dropping two in both, 2013 and 2014, I’m thinking Alabama could very well run the table for the second straight season while reaching their fifth straight national championship game.Again, no matter how you feel about the Crimson Tide or Nick Saban, expecting a big drop-off from a year ago, just isn’t very wise. In my mind, the Tide will contend for as long as Nick Saban leads the perennial SEC powerhouse.

Why Alabama Will Likely Be A Disappointing Bet This 2016 Season

Previous Betting News

The Alabama Crimson Tide may be the reigning national champions and they may be on of the top favorites to repeat this coming season, but there are also a handful of reasons why the Tide will likely be a disappointing college football betting pick in 2016. Now, let’s examine the top five reasons Nick Saban’s team could fall sort of their national championship goals.

Top 5 Reasons Why Alabama Will Likely Be A Disappointing College Football Pick This Season

1. Quarterback

Thanks to the graduation of Jake Coker, this spring will mark the third straight year that the Tide has a quarterback competition. Nick Saban will decide who gets the job between Cooper Bateman, Blake Barnett, David Cornwell and Jalen Hurts, but the fact of the matter is that whoever starts under center will be learning on the job and that could spell doom for Alabama in 2016.

2. Running Back

For the first time in the Saban era, the Crimson Tide enter a new season without both of its top two rushers from the previous season. Young running backs Bo Scarbrough and Damien Harris will duke it out for the starting job, but I think replacing Heisman Trophy-winning running back Derrick Henry will be a lot tougher than most expect.

3. Linebacker

The loss of three seniors at two starters including stud middle linebacker Reggie Ragland could be a problem for Nick Saban’s defense in 2016. Alabama will look to senior Reuben Foster and youngster Tim Williams first and foremost to step up at the linebacker position, but I can’t see either filling the huge shoes that Ragland left.

4. Defensive Line

Alabama’s defensive line – and their jaw-dropping depth, were an absolute strength in 2015, but I’m not too sure the Tide can quickly overcome the loses of stud defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson and star defensive end Jarran Reed End Da’Shawn Hand is a former five-star recruit but he’ll have t prove it on the field in 2016 and Saban could e hard-pressed to find the depth with this unit hat he had a year ago.

5. Bullseye On Their Backs

The Tide will undoubtedly have that proverbial bullseye on their collective backs in 2016 that every national champion carries into the following season. Alabama’s opponents will play just a little bit harder against the Tide than they do every other opponent on their respective schedules. While I can see the Tide reaching the double-digit mark this coming season, I also think it’s possible they could lose a trio of road dates against Mississippi, Tennessee at LSU.
