NCAA Football Game Lines: O/U Picks Week 3

After a great start to the season, where we went 3-0 in our O/U picks in Week 1, we came crashing back to earth with an almighty thud last week. We had a couple of close calls, but all 3 of our picks failed to land, so this week is all about getting back on the horse and going in search of redemption. There are certainly plenty of intriguing matchups coming our way in Week 3 and lots of opportunities to get back to winning ways. I’d love to do a week where I made picks on every game, just to see how things would play out, especially since narrowing it down to just 3 games is tougher than you might imagine. We are going to stick with 3 NCAAF picks for this coming weekend and hope that the right moves are made, so let’s get to it.

Florida State Seminoles at Boston College Eagles

There are a couple of different ways to look at things when it comes to trying to make picks in college football. You can go with past history between the teams in question, or you can choose to look at what they are both doing now. Looking at past history, the UNDER looks like the way to go here, with 5 of the last 6 meetings between these teams at this location have gone that route. I am choosing to go the other way, though, as the trends seem a little more compelling. Both Seminoles games have gone over this season, which means that they have gone OVER in their last 5 overall. Similarly, the Eagles have seen 6 of their last 7 home games go OVER, so that seems the way to go here.

Louisville Cardinals at Indiana Hoosiers

NCAA Football Pick: UNDER 52

Through the opening 2 weeks of the season, Louisville has put up some big numbers, scoring 95 points through their first couple of games. As good as they have looked, they are now going against a Hoosiers team that has been solid on the defensive side of the football, while also not being able to do too much on offense. I think the Cardinals are going to have a much tougher time putting points on the board here and I believe that the bookies may have gone just a little too high with their point total for this one. The Cardinals have seen the UNDER hit in 5 of their last 7, so let’s stick with that trend for this one.

Minnesota Golden Gophers at UNC Tar Heels

NCAA Football Pick: OVER 50
When: Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 3:30pm ET
Where: Kenan Stadium, Chapel Hill, NC

I’ll freely admit that I think this one might be the biggest risk of the 3 games that I have selected here, as I think the total score is going to be pretty darned close to the 50-point mark set by the bookies. That said, I do think it will creep OVER that total. The Golden Gophers have been trending UNDER of late, but that all changes when they are the underdog, as they are here, with 4 of their last 5 going OVER when they are not the favorite. For the Tar Heels, 6 of their last 9 Saturday home games have gone OVER the point total, and while all of that is not entirely convincing, I think these teams do just enough to go OVER.
