As we’re just one day away from the start of Week 5 of the college football season, we’ve looked over the slate of games and found some that we’re comfortable making predictions on. There are numerous games pitting ranked teams against each other, and with the conference seasons now in full swing, every game becomes that much more important. Let’s take a look at a few of this week’s games, and we’ll give you our predictions on those contests.

Washington Huskies (-2.5) @ UCLA Bruins (Friday, 9/30)

The Washington Huskies have snuck under the radar, and are quietly having a very good season. The UCLA Bruins seem to be doing the same thing. When Michael Penix, Jr. transferred to Washington, people didn’t realize how much of an impact he would have on Washington’s offense.

As for the Bruins, Chip Kelly has put together a very good team. Even though they’ve been overshadowed by USC, the Bruins are contenders for the Pac-12 title.

We think there’ll be a lot of points put up in this one, but the Washington Huskies will get the best of the Bruins on their home turf. The Huskies are undefeated against the spread this season, and we think they’ll continue that trend on Friday. Washington wins by a touchdown to cover the spread.

Georgia Bulldogs (-27.5) @ Missouri Tigers

The Bulldogs are coming off of a game in which they let Kent State hang around. Missouri lost a heartbreaker to Auburn, as they missed an easy field goal attempt to tie the game. Missouri is in rebuilding mode, while Georgia has looked even better at times than they did in last season’s national championship run.

While road games can be tough in the SEC, we think that Columbia will be full of Georgia fans on Saturday. The Bulldogs will look to rebound after Saturday’s dull performance, and unfortunately for Mizzou, they’ll take the brunt of Georgia’s ire.

The Bulldogs win this one big, and cover the spread in the process.

Arizona State Sun Devils @ USC Trojans (-24)

USC escaped Corvallis with a win last Saturday after a late comeback led by Caleb Williams. Arizona State has had plenty of issues to deal with over the past few weeks as head coach Herm Edwards was fired, there are numerous NCAA sanctions pending, and the program is in a bad place right now.

Arizona State hasn’t been able to stop anyone on the ground this season, as their defense has given up nearly 200 yards per game on the ground. Look for Lincoln Riley’s offense to exploit the poor Sun Devils’ rushing defense and run wild throughout the game. Oh, and we almost forgot that Williams is one of the top passing quarterbacks in college football as well.

Things don’t look good for Arizona State here. USC is always very good at home, and they’re coming off of subpar performance. We think Williams will have a big day, as he’ll be looking to stay in the Heisman Trophy race.

USC puts up a lot of points, while Arizona State will struggle to score. Give us the Trojans in this one, as they win by at least 30 and cover the 24-point spread.

After another crazy week in college football, we’ve unveiled our newest set of power rankings. We have a few changes for you in this week’s Top 10 so you can continue betting against the NCAA Football Odds.

Updated Power Rankings After Week 4 of the 2022 College Football Season

1. Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama destroyed Vanderbilt on Saturday. We will get to see Alabama play another meaningful game on Saturday as they travel to Arkansas to take on the Razorbacks. The anti-Alabama crowd in Fayetteville will be raucous, so this will be a tough test for Nick Saban’s squad.

2. Georgia Bulldogs

Even though the Bulldogs’ offense is still averaging 42 points per game, they looked sluggish in their win over Kent State on Saturday. The defense had given up just 10 points in the first three games but gave up 22 last week. We’ll see how Georgia handles a weak Missouri team.

3. Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State made a huge statement by beating up on the Wisconsin Badgers last Saturday. Ohio State showed everyone that they are back to show everyone that they’re ready to contend for a national title. Wisconsin had one of the best defenses in the country last season, and Ohio State made easy work of the Badger defense. Ohio State shouldn’t have much of a challenge against Rutgers this week.

4. Michigan Wolverines

Michigan had some issues with Maryland last week, but the Wolverines came through with the victory. Blake Corum is making a case to be a Heisman candidate, as he rushed for 243 yards on Saturday. Michigan will now face one of the best defenses in the country as they travel to Iowa City to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes.

5. Clemson Tigers

It took two overtimes, but the Clemson Tigers were able to outlast the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. This was a tough battle, but Clemson left with a good feeling, as quarterback DJ Uiagalelei threw for over 370 yards and five touchdowns. This was the performance that Clemson had been waiting for. Now the Tigers have another tough one, as the NC State Wolfpack head to town.

6. USC Trojans

The USC Trojans were only able to put up 17 points in their win at Oregon State. The Beavers defense found a way to slow Caleb Williams down. USC had to storm back late in the 4th quarter to escape with the win. USC will now face a disheveled Arizona State program.

7. Tennessee Volunteers

After surviving a late surge by the Florida Gators, the Volunteers head into their bye week undefeated. Hendon Hooker has played well, and Josh Heupel’s offense looks like one of the best in the nation. When they next take the field, they’ll have to face LSU in Death Valley.

8. Kentucky Wildcats

After escaping with a win against Northern Illinois, the Kentucky Wildcats now have to find a way to slow down Lane Kiffin’s offense. Kentucky will have to do this at Ole Miss, so this will be a huge challenge.

9. Oklahoma State Cowboys

Mike Gundy’s squad isn’t as flashy as it has been in the past, but they’re finding ways to win. This week, they’ll face their toughest test as they head to Waco to take on the Baylor Bears.

10. Oregon Ducks

After being embarrassed by the Georgia Bulldogs in their opener, the Ducks have stormed back. With huge wins over BYU and Washington State, Oregon is showing everyone that they’re a contender for the Pac-12 title.

Who Will Be the Big Losers In Week 5 of the 2022 College Football Season?

LSU @ Auburn (+7)

If it wasn’t for a late missed field goal by Missouri, Brian Harsin may not have still been an Auburn employee. Many were speculating that if Missouri beat Auburn, the Auburn administration would have made a change. We’ll never know, but since Harsin has taken over the Tigers program, they haven’t been very successful.

This week, they’ll welcome Brian Kelly and his Tigers to Jordan-Hare Stadium. Ever since TJ Finley took over for Bo Nix, the Auburn offense just hasn’t clicked. The Tigers are 3-1 on the season, but they’ve yet to really beat anyone. Penn State beat Auburn 41-12, and that’s when the rumors about Harsin started flying around.

Even though LSU isn’t exactly lighting the world on fire, we think that they’re the more talented team, and that they’ll come into Auburn with something to prove. We’re going to choose Auburn as one of our “sure losers” this week.

Alabama (-15.5) @ Arkansas

After the Arkansas Razorbacks jumped all over Texas A&M early, many felt that the Razorbacks were showing how good they truly were. Well, things changed quickly, and the Aggies ended up beating Arkansas.

Sam Pittman has to be down about that loss, but he doesn’t have much time to sulk, as his Razorbacks host the #1 team in the country this week, in the Alabama Crimson Tide. Ever since their narrow victory over Texas in Week 2, the Tide has had two easy games against Louisiana-Monroe and Vanderbilt.

Mistakes cost Arkansas last week, and they can ill-afford to make those same kinds of mistakes against a team like Alabama. We’re banking on KJ Jefferson, and the offense playing much better this week.

We don’t say this very often, but the Alabama Crimson Tide are one of our “sure losers” this week. While we think they’ll leave Fayetteville with a victory, we think that it’s going to be a very close game. The raucous Arkansas crowd will make things difficult for Bryce Young and the Alabama offense. Alabama wins the game, but they won’t cover the spread.

Oklahoma (-4.5) @ Texas Christian University

Back in the day, a trip to TCU was one that teams didn’t want to make. Gary Patterson was one of the top defensive coaches in the country, and he always seemed to find a way to slow a powerful offense down. Well, those days are gone, and the Oklahoma Sooners are coming off of a bad loss at Kansas State.

While we know that TCU isn’t a bad team, we just have a feeling that Brent Venables’ squad is going to be fired up for this one. They know that last week’s loss could really cost them, and they need to make up for it.

TCU is going to be one of our “sure losers” this week, as the Sooners will come into Fort Worth and put a hurtin’ on the Horned Frogs.

2. Georgia Bulldogs – This Georgia team looks great on both sides of the football, but it is their defense that is particularly scary. The Dawgs beat #8 Arkansas 37-0 this past weekend, which means that their D has given up just 1 offensive TD in the first 5 weeks.

3. Iowa Hawkeyes – Not a lot of people were picking the Hawkeyes as a top 4 teams this season, but 5 weeks in, they are perfect and are starting to get noticed. They will play Penn State next weekend in their biggest test to date.

4. Penn State Nittany Lions – Given the start that they have made to this season, it is easy to forget that the Nittany Lions started 2020 at 0-5. This team will get a serious test next weekend when they square off against #3 Iowa.

5. Cincinnati Bearcats – We are all well aware that there is a Power 5 bias when talking about the top 4. If Cincinnati can win and move to 5-0 next week, that will be put to the test, as one of the teams above them will lose in Week 6.

6. Oklahoma Sooners – While theSooners continue to win, they continue to do so in a style that is not going to hold a lot of weight with the Playoff Committee. You get the sense that a loss is coming for them sooner rather than later.

7. Ohio State Buckeyes – The Buckeyes got back into the top 10 this week after jumping 4 spots with a 52-13 win over Rutgers. They still have a loss looming over their head, so they are going to need some help to get back in the top 4.

8. Oregon Ducks – Once again, it looks as though the PAC 12 might miss out on the playoffs after the Ducks were stunned by Stanford in Week 5. It is going to be a long way back to that top 4 after a loss like that.

9. Michigan Wolverines – The Wolverines will continue to climb the rankings as long as they keep on winning, but they also know that the second half of their season is when things get brutal with their schedule.

10. BYU Cougars – The Cougars are a perfect 5-0 and have been a great story this season. As an independent, though, you wonder just how high they can really go in the rankings. Their schedule is rather tame, so top 10 might well be their goal this season.

Despite their on-field success in recent seasons, the Sooners are just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games as a favorite, 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games overall,1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 conference games. Conversely Iowa State has gone 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a home underdog, 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 games as an underdog and 15-6 ATS in their last 21 games following a straight up loss. Oklahoma manages to scratch out the narrow road win, but I’ve got Iowa State covering the chalk by harassing Spencer Rattler into a couple of costly mistakes.

Georgia kicked off their 2020 campaign by overpowering Arkansas 37-10 last weekend as quarterback Stetson Bennett passed for 211 yards with two touchdowns and no picks. Georgia scored 22 third quarter points to take control after going into the half down 7-5.

Tennessee got past South Carolina 31-27 on Saturday as a 4-point road fave as quarterback Jarrett Guarantano passed for 259 yards with one touchdown and no picks while adding a touchdown run in the win.

Two weeks after beating overmatched Eastern Kentucky 56-10 in their opener, West Virginia was on the wrong end of a humbling 27-13 loss against No. 17 Oklahoma State while failing to cover the chalk as a 5.5-point road dog. The Mountaineers gave up 20 second quarter points in the loss and couldn’t make up the deficit in the second half.

Kansas fell against Coastal Carolina 38-23 in their opener on Sept. 12 before getting completely overwhelmed in their 47-14 blowout loss against Baylor last weekend. Running back Pooka Williams was the only bright spot as he rushed for 76 yards and two scores in the loss.

Now that we are into College Football Week 5 of the 2019 season, teams for the most part will be playing only conference games the rest of the way. Here’s a look at two interesting matchups in Week 5 with Mybookie Sportsbook NCAAF odds.

Washington State at No. 19 Utah

When: Saturday, 10 PM ET

Pac-12 title game preview? Might be, although the loser probably doesn’t make it with one conference loss already on each’s resume. The Utes were 30-23 losers at USC last Friday. To make matters worse, star running back Zack Moss was hurt in that one. Moss injured his shoulder in the first half Friday after rushing for 20 yards on six carries. The senior is second on the Utes’ all-time rushing yards list. Not yet clear how long he will be out will be out but not expected to be the season.

Against the Trojans, Tyler Huntley went 22-for-30 (1 TD, 0 INT) for 210 yards passing. His 210 yards passing marks his 14th career 200-yard game, breaking a tie for eighth all-time with Alex Smith (13, 2002-04). Three players are tied for fifth all-time with 16 (Frank Dolce, 1991-92; Mike Fouts, 1995-96; Travis Wilson, 2012-15). Utah had 16 penalties, its most since recording a school-record 21 penalties vs. Utah State on Nov. 12, 1983. Despite holding USC to just 13 rushing yards, the Trojans were able to go for 368 passing with three of their four touchdowns coming through the air.

What about the Cougars?

Washington State fell out of the Top 25 with a wild 67-63 loss to UCLA on Saturday. Dorian Thompson-Robinson threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Demetric Felton with 1:07 left in the game as previously winless UCLA overcame a 32-point second-half deficit and a record nine TD passes by Washington State’s Anthony Gordon. Gordon was sacked and fumbled – the team’s sixth turnover of the game – on the next possession with about a minute remaining and UCLA recovered and ran out the clock.

Utah lost 28-24 at Washington State last season. Cougars QB Gardner Minshew II, now a rookie star with the NFL’s Jaguars, Gardner Minshew completed 31 of 56 passes for three touchdowns – including the game-winning 89-yarder with about four minutes left. He also ran for a touchdown. Utah entered as the nation’s No. 1 defense but allowed 445 yards. Utah running back Zack Moss rushed for 106 yards and quarterback Tyler Huntley ran for 88 yards. But the Utes managed only 118 yards through the air.

No. 5 Ohio State at Nebraska

When: Saturday, 7:30 PM ET

OSU remained unbeaten with a 76-5 rout of Miami of Ohio on Saturday. The Nuts had 42 points in the second quarter after falling behind 5-0. Quarterback Justin Fields accounted for six total TDs in the first 30 minutes as the Buckeyes moved to 4-0. Ohio State outgained Miami 250 to negative seven in the decisive second quarter with Fields rushing for a pair of TDs and throwing for four scores.

Defensively, the Buckeyes recorded five sacks, including a pair from Chase Young. The Buckeyes’ defense has held each of its first four opponents to 300 or less yards of total offense. The last time that occurred was 1996 when Ohio State did it to Rice, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame and Penn State.

Ohio State and Nebraska are two of just five schools to ever reach 900 all-time wins. The Cornhuskers joined that exclusive club last week with a 42-38 come-from-behind victory at Illinois. Nebraska trailed by two touchdowns on four occasions in the game, and relied on its offensive firepower to pull out the victory.

The Huskers gained nearly 700 yards of total offense and topped 300 yards rushing and passing for just the second time in school history.

All Time Series

Last year, the Buckeyes edged the Huskers 36-31 in Columbus. OSU tailback JK Dobbins, who is one of the best backs in the nation this year, ran for 163 yards and two more touchdowns as Ohio State rallied in the second half. Down 21-16 at half after the Huskers turned two Ohio State fumbles into touchdown drives, the Buckeyes rallied in the second half. They forced five straight punts and held Nebraska to a field-goal when a drive stalled at the 1. Huskers QB Adrian Martinez was 22 for 33 for 266 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 72 yards and two more scores. He’s still in Lincoln.

Ohio State holds a 6-1 all-time edge in the series, including a 4-1 edge since Nebraska joined the Big Ten Conference in 2011.

We will once again be focusing on those conferences for our best games to bet on in the 2018 NCAA Football Week 5.

2018 NCAA Football Week 5 Betting Picks

ACC

Florida State Seminoles at Louisville Cardinals – This is one of the more interesting teams on the schedule in Week 5, as it features a pair of teams who are going to look different this season. With Jimbo Fisher now gone, the Seminoles will have a new head coach calling the shots.

In Louisville, the Cardinals will be trying to adapt to life without Lamar Jackson at QB, which is an incredibly big hole to fill. Bit of a coin flip game here, but I am going to take Florida State on the road.

Big 12

West Virginia Mountaineers at Texas Tech Red Raiders – The Mountaineers are coming into this season boasting an offense that is once again going to be among the best in college football. Their problems have been on the defensive side of the football, and if that unit is going to get exposed, it might just happen here.

Texas Tech is also a team that focuses more on the offensive side of the game than the defensive side. I think we can certainly expect to see a lot of scoring in this one, and I believe that it will be the Mountaineers who prevail.

Big Ten

Ohio State Buckeyes at Penn State Nittany Lions – The hope among the fans of the Buckeyes is that the drama of the offseason will have been put in the past by this stage of the season. We have yet to find out what will become of Urban Meyer, but even if he does keep his job, you have to wonder how it will affect the team and the preparation for the season ahead.

We’ll have a good idea of that by the time we reach this stage of the season. If things have not gone well for the Buckeyes, they could well be in trouble on the road against Penn State.

PAC 12

Stanford Cardinal at Notre Dame Fighting Irish – There are some who believe that Stanford has what it takes to win the PAC 12 and land a spot in the playoffs. It’s fair to suggest that the conference could use something like that after failing to send anyone to the final four last year, while also having a miserable bowl season.

If the Cardinal is to be a contender, they are going to need to come up with a signature win in South Bend. Notre Dame is a very good team that is more than capable of winning this one, although I think they lose in a close one.

SEC

Ole Miss Rebels at LSU Tigers – It’s a bit of a quieter week in the SEC, with all the major players in the East and West Divisions having what appear to be very manageable games. Of the bunch, I think this one could well be the most entertaining. Ole Miss is coming off a couple of down years, but are still a good team that is not going to be easy to put away.

LSU think they can win the West, and these are the types of games they need to win if that is to happen. This should be a win for the Tigers.

No. 7 Stanford at No. 8 Notre Dame (-4.5)

The loser here could be in trouble for the playoff because each team has very tough schedules left so it’s likely that a second loss would be coming. The Irish still visit Virginia Tech, Northwestern, and USC and host Florida State. The Cardinal have to go to Arizona State, Washington and Cal.

Stanford got a huge win this past Saturday, rallying for a 38-31 overtime win at No. 20 Oregon. After KJ Costello’s overtime TD pass to Colby Parkinson, Stanford’s Alameen Murphy intercepted Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert’s pass in the end zone for the victory. Bryce Love returned after sitting out last week against UC Davis to rest minor injuries. He ran for 89 yards and a touchdown. Oregon led 30-7 and the game looked over until Stanford linebacker Joey Alfieri scooped up a fumble that he ran back 80 yards for a touchdown to start the rally.

Notre Dame crushed Wake Forest 56-27. Ian Book rushed for three touchdowns and threw for two more in his first start of the season. Book replaced Brandon Wimbush in the starting lineup and was 25 of 34 for 325 yards with touchdown passes covering 3 yards to Brock Wright and 7 yards to Chase Claypool, along with three short scoring runs. Presumably, Book has the job for good now as the Irish had a season-high 566 yards and scored more than 24 points for the first time.

The Irish will get back suspended RB Dexter Williams this week. Williams averaged 9.2 yards per carry for Notre Dame in a reserve role last season. Of his 39 carries in 2017, 17 went for a first down. The senior has 641 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 99 carries in 29 career games for the Irish.

No. 4 Ohio State at No. 9 Penn State (+4)

The winner of this game probably wins the Big Ten East and then beats Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship Game. Probably. Penn State does have a tougher schedule the rest of the way than Ohio State.

The Buckeyes will again be missing a key player in defensive end Nick Bosa, the potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He’s recovering from abdominal surgery. In three games this season, the junior has four sacks, six tackles for loss, a forced fumble that led to an Ohio State touchdown against TCU and two fumble recoveries. Bosa led Ohio State with eight sacks and 16 tackles for loss in 2017.

OSU could use Bosa against a Penn State offense that is No. 1 in the Football Bowl Subdivision in points scored per game (55.5). No road environment has tested the Ohio State football team quite as much in recent years as Penn State’s Beaver Stadium. The Buckeyes were defeated in their last trip to State College in 2016 when Penn State scored 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to upset Ohio State, a win that would ultimately make the difference in the Nittany Lions winning the Big Ten East title. OSU needed double OT to win in Happy Valley two years before that.

Penn State has not fared well straight up against Urban Meyer’s squad recently, losing five out of the last six meetings. But since 2013, the Nittany Lions have been home underdogs six times overall as they are here. Penn State covered in four of those contests, winning three outright. OSU has covered in seven straight road games.

Syracuse at No. 3 Clemson (-22)

Easy win for the Tigers, right? Not so fast. They were ranked No. 2 in the nation last year when they visited unranked Syracuse, and the Orange pulled off a 27-24 stunner. Eric Dungey threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns, and Cole Murphy kicked a tiebreaking field goal in the fourth quarter. Clemson had won 12 consecutive games on the opponent’s home field, the longest streak in Clemson history and tied for the second longest active streak in the nation. It was SU’s first-ever win in 13 tries against the No. 2 team in the nation.

This year, SU is unbeaten, although it hasn’t really played anyone. The Orange, who have not trailed this season, have won their first four games for the first time since 1991 and only the fourth time since the end of World War II. Dungey is having a good year.

Clemson, meanwhile, will make a QB change this week. Kelly Bryant, who led Clemson to the College Football Playoff last season, has started all four games this season but will sit. True freshman Trevor Lawrence, the No. 2 overall recruit in the nation this year, has been superb coming off the bench, including completing 13 of 18 passes for 176 yards and four touchdowns against the Yellow Jackets on Saturday. He gets the call. Through four games, Bryant has led the offense on 21 full drives, while Lawrence has led 23. Clemson has averaged 4.2 points per drive with Lawrence at the helm, nearly double Bryant’s scoring rate. Bryant will still play.

Analysis: The Washington Huskies are in a great position to beat Stanford and bolster their playoff chances, but I wasn’t very impressed with the Huskies in their narrow win over a so-so Arizona squad last weekend while conversely, I was encouraged by the fight that Stanford showed in refusing to lose against UCLA.

While it would seem like Washington has the far more explosive offense in this matchup, I believe the Huskies’ offensive statistics are skewed because of their early-season matchups against inferior opponents.

Stanford has gone6-1 ATS in their last seven road games against a team with a winning home record and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games following an ATS win. While Washington has gone 15-7 ATS in their last 22 games following an ATS loss, the Huskies are also just 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games against a team with a winning road record.

While the home team in this Pac-12 rivalry has gone 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings. I’m going with Stanford to get the outright road win and ATS cover, seeing as how the Cardinal are 38-16-1 ATS in their last 55 conference games and have a defense that is as good as any in the nation right now.

Analysis: While I picked the Clemson Tigers to get back to this year’s national championship after falling just short a year ago and I’m sticking with that pick, I must admit that Louisville’s Lamar Jackson scares the hell out of me. Having said that, let me also say that I believe the Tigers are still the right pick to get the narrow win for two reasons. The Tigers are playing at home in front of their crazed fans and they have an elite defense.

I know Louisville is 4-0 ATS in their last four non-conference games and a perfect 5-0 ATS in their last five games in the month of September, but Clemson is 4-1 ATS in their last five games following an SU win and an encouraging 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record.

The Tigers have won two straight over the Cardinals in narrow fashion and I expect them to make it three in a row by keeping Jackson in check and forcing someone else to beat them. I love the spread with Clemson being a surprising 1.5-point home dog and I believe Clemson will cover the spread by getting the outright win!

This is a stern test for both teams, and with only one of these two likely to make it to the final 4, it could essentially be a make or break game for them both.

Miami have been creeping up the rankings all season long, and have looked good in doing so, but it has to be said that this might be the first real test in the Mark Richt era. While Oklahoma has gone 6-1 ATS in their last seven conference games, the Sooners are also 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall while TCU has gone 7-1 ATS in their last eight games in the month of October and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against the Sooners.

While Oklahoma has had an extra week to prepare for this game, but TCU has extra time after playing on Thursday night. With that said, I just don’t see the Sooners getting the road upset over a TCU team that I still improving as first-year starter Kenny Hill continues his maturation under center. After a disappointing loss at Auburn on Saturday, the school fired ultra-successful head coach Les Miles on Sunday. The Tigers begin life under interim coach Ed Orgeron on Saturday vs. Missouri. Here are three game picks on college football odds for Week 5.

Missouri at LSU (-13)

Miles, who led the Tigers to three SEC West titles, two SEC championships and one national title, was in his 12th season with the program. What likely did Miles in is that 1-1 SEC record, which means he’s dropped four of his last six conference games dating back to 2015. LSU also dumped offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. Orgeron has been named interim coach for the remainder of the season. It’s a role Orgeron has served in previously at USC, where he led the Trojans to a 6-2 finish after replacing Lane Kiffin. Orgeron also spent three seasons coaching at Ole Miss from 2005-07; he went 10-25. LSU fell out of the polls following Saturday’s 18-13 loss at unranked Auburn. Danny Etling’s 15-yard game-winning touchdown pass to D.J. Chark was overturned by video review citing no time remaining on the clock. On the previous play, LSU was flagged for an illegal shift after picking up a first down at the Auburn 2-yard line with 0:01 to play. I like LSU to roll here as Missouri isn’t great. The Tigers come off a 79-0 win over little Delaware State.

Notre Dame vs. Syracuse (+12.5)

This game is at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Notre Dame was stunned by Duke over the weekend and the loss forced Coach Brian Kelly to fire defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder. Kelly also warned that everyone’s spot on the team — including his own — was in jeopardy after the Irish, favored by 21 points, lost 38-35 to Duke on Saturday. It was the program’s biggest upset defeat against the point spread in two decades. Defensive analyst Greg Hudson, a Notre Dame alumnus, will take over VanGorder’s responsibilities. Notre Dame, 1-3 for the first time since Kelly’s first season in 2010, ranks 103rd in total defense after Saturday’s loss, the team’s fourth in five games and fifth in a row against team from a Power Five conference. Syracuse on 31 24 at UConn on Saturday. Orange transfer Amba Etta-Tawo caught 12 passes for a school-record 270 yards and two touchdowns. Etta-Tawo scored twice in the game’s first five minutes on touchdown receptions of 57 and 30 yards. His 59-yard catch from the shadow of his team’s goal line highlighted a 2-play 99-yard fourth-quarter drive that put the game away for the Orange (2-2). Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey completed 26 of 40 passes for 407 yards and those two scores. Take the Irish here.

Baylor at Iowa State (+17)

Could be a trap game for the unbeaten Bears? Baylor (4-0) is off a 35-24 win over Oklahoma State. With leading receiver KD Cannon watching the second half in street clothes after suffering a pulled groin, the Bears got big nights from both Chris Platt and Ishmael Zamora, who came back from his three-game suspension to set career highs for catches (eight), yards (175) and touchdowns (two). The Cyclones picked up their first win under new coach Matt Campbell, blasting San Jose State, 44-10. Kamari Cotton-Moya, Jomal Wiltz, Jarnor Jones, and Brian Peavy had picks in Iowa State’s most lopsided win since beating Kansas 34-0 in 2013. As for the quarterbacks, Joel Lanning had a big impact in his limited work, going 5-of- 8 for 136 yards and a pair of scores. Jacob Park went 15-of- 19 with 165 yards and three touchdown passes, while also adding a career-best 35-yard run in the second quarter. ISU won’t win but I’ll take the points here on NCAA Football lines.

It was the Tigers who came away with a tight 20-17 win in that one, and they will probably gladly take the same sort of result this year, too. This looks to be one of the better games on the schedule for Week 5.

A great match-up that could well decide who stays alive in the playoff race, and who falls out of it. Wisconsin were a very solid 10-3 last season, which included going a perfect 4-0 on the road. Michigan were something of a surprise last year, as they made a dramatic improvement under Jim Harbaugh. The feeling is that they will take another big step forward this season, and this may well be that game that proves whether they are indeed for real or not.

Oklahoma at TCU

If this game proves to be as exciting as the meeting between these two was last season, then we are in for a real treat. It was the Sooners who came away with a 30-29 win at home in that one, and they can expect another tough go of it when they have to go on the road this time around. Oklahoma are getting a lot of pre-season love right now, and a win here might just prove that it is indeed justified.

North Carolina at Florida State

The Tar Heels made it all the way to the ACC Championship Game last season, losing 45-37 in a heartbreaker against Clemson. It’s no real surprise that North Carolina are among the favorites coming into this season, and they will have a stiff test on their hands against a Florida State Seminoles team that figures to be a little stronger this season. This game will go a long way towards deciding which of these two teams will be appearing in the conference final at the end of the season.

No. 3 Ole Miss at No. 25 Florida

SU Pick: Ole Miss

The Gators are a good team, averaging 33.5 PPG and 404 YPG in the offense. Unfortunately, they are going against an Ole Miss team with superior offensive numbers (55 PPG and 544 YPG), along with a very mean defense. So even with a strong performance from Florida at home, the Rebels should eventually find a way of claiming the win.

No. 21 Mississippi State at No. 14 Texas A&M

SU Pick: Mississippi State

Both the Bulldogs and aggies have a proven potential to score points, but the Bulldogs will have a winning advantage in this game because of their superior defense.

No. 6 Notre Dame at No. 12 Clemson

SU Pick: Clemson

Clemson comes into this game with a home-field advantage and a superior QB in Deshaun Watson, which gives them great edge over the Fighting Irish. Added to the fact that the Fighting Irish are just 2-10 in true road games against ranked opponents, this game has Clemson’ name written all over it in the win column.

Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray have been impressive for Texas A&M at QB, particularly in the passing game. Unfortunately for the Aggies, the Bulldogs have been one of the hottest SEC teams this season and are coming off a morale-boosting win over Auburn last Saturday. Moreover, Mississippi State’s QB Dak Prescott is a lethal dual-threat attacker, which gives him some slight advantage over Allen and Murray, who are mostly dependent on passing the ball. Added to the fact that Prescott is yet to be intercepted this season and the Bulldogs defense is giving up just 14.8 PPG so far this season, it would not be a surprise if Mississippi State delivers another huge upset win this week.

After losing to Ole Miss in Week 3, the Crimson Tide cannot afford another loss in the SEC. Notching another defeat would almost guarantee that Alabama’s quest for the playoffs comes to an end, and knowing the Tide team, that is not an issue they will be taking lightly. So although Georgia looks more talented on paper and Greyson Lambert gives the Bulldogs a QB edge over Alabama, you can expect Nick Saban to rally his team for a very strong performance, something we believe will give the Tide a good chance of upsetting their the home-favored Bulldogs. Plus, Alabama has recently enjoyed a dominant performance over the Bulldogs, so there’s no reason they shouldn’t be able to tap into that magic once again.

East Carolina at SMU,

East Carolina enters this game on the back of a big win over the Virginia Tech Hokies, something that has caught the attention of many bettors, and rightfully so. The Mustangs, on the other hand, weren’t able to close out last week’s encounter against FCS James Madison, and many are the opinion that SMU will be a walkover to East Carolina. But then, this is the same SMU team that nearly pulled an upset win over TCU on September 19 and also tested Baylor quite well. So if that hard-fighting Mustang team can show up this Saturday, SMU should be able to upset the NCAAF odds with a home win.
