The final Kentucky Derby prep took place last Saturday in the Grade Lexington. The Lexington doesn’t always produce a top Derby contender. This year should be no different as Sierra Leone and Fierceness put their final Derby prep races in the books two weeks ago. When it comes down to it, the lack of the Baffert runners should make this year’s Derby as close to a foregone conclusion as there ever will be.
