Saratoga Special Stakes | Grade 2

6 ½ furlongs dirt – 2 year olds

Saratoga Race Course, Saratoga Springs, New York

D. Wayne Lukas trained Market Sense was great on debut, winning by 3 ¾ lenghts. But in the Sanford, the best the Lukas trained runner could do was finish sixth. Still, because Market Sense is one of the few with experience other than a maiden score, the Street Sense sired runner will attract action.

Todd Pletcher trained Haul should go off the favorite. The last out maiden winner was ultra impressive. Lasso, Rhyme Schemes, Divieto, Edified, and South America, all last out maiden winners, will also run.

Fourstardave Handicap | Grade 1

Casa Creed, the Bill Mott trained and Jimmy Creed sired runner, hopes to make it back-to-back stakes victories after winning the Grade 3 Kelso in the last.

Casa Creed edged out Todd Pletcher trained Annapolis, which projects as one of the chalks in this. Emanuel, another Pletcher trainee, and Ice Chocolat from the Mark Casse barn will also run.

Secretariat Stakes | Grade 2

1 mile turf – 3 year olds

Arlington Million Day switches from defunct Arlington Park to Colonial Downs. The first of note on the massive turf stakes card is the Grade 2 Secretariat. Major Dude, from the Pletcher barn, and Nagirroc, the Graham Motion trained and Grade 3 Manila third place finisher, will attract action.

So will Silver Knott, the Charles Appleby runner that finished fifth in the Grade 1 Belmont Derby Invitational in the last. If you’re looking for an underdog with a shot, consider backing Cherie DeVaux trained Northern Invader.

Graham Motion projects to saddle the chalk in Spendarella. The Krakonite sired filly finished second in the Grade 1 Just A Game in the last.

Grade 1 New York winner Didia and Fev Rover will get backing. So will Chad Brown trained Gina Romantica. Mise En Scene, an allowance winner, will be an attractive longshot. Trainer Bendan Walsh has had a great Saratoga meet. So consider.

Adhamo, Santin, Set Piece, Rockemperor, Strong Quality, and Atone will run. Unless Master of the Seas isn’t feeling it on Saturday, those equines will be running for second.

Yellow Ribbon Handicap | Grade 2

On paper, the Yellow Ribbon appears wide open. Bob Baffert returns to the turf with Ganadora, a four-year-old filly with huge talent. Ganadora will offer a square price because she goes dirt to turf, which isn’t a usual Baffert move.

Neige Blanche, Closing Remarks, and Tunerloose will attract action. School Dance, Signature Perfect, and Macadamia will also garner betting dollars. Macadamia, a Phil D’Amato trained runner, could go off the chalk.
