Favoritism should fall to Todd Pletcher trained Gambling Girl, which finished second behind super longshot Pretty Mischievous in the Kentucky Oaks in her last. Michael Yates trained Dorth Vader finished behind Pretty Mischievous in the Grade 1 Acorn in the last. Dorth will also attract action.

United Nations Handicap | Grade 1

There are no confirmed entrants yet for the Grade 1 United Nations Handicap. We can expect Chad Brown will ship at least two of his top grass runners. Last year, Adhamo beat Epic Bromance and Temple. Adhamo is a Chad Brown runner that remains active. Chad is likely to send Adhamo to the starting gate for the repeat try.

The United Nations Handicap also often attracts international runners. So Aidan O’Brien will likely have a top contender. So will Charles Appleby.

Haskell Invitational | Grade 1

This year’s Haskell Invitational should be epic. Kentucky Derby winner Mage and Todd Pletcher trained Tapit Trice will both go.

The favorite, though, projects as Bob Baffert trained Arabian Lion. The Baffert runner has won 2 straight, including the Grade 1 Woody Stephens.

Baffert believes he’s got a route monster on his hands. If Arabian Lion shows up, the Derby winner and Tapit Trice will finish second and third. Geaux Rocket Ride and Arabian Knight are two others you should have on your radar.

Like the United Nations Handicap at Monmouth, no runners have confirmed for the Grade 2 San Clemente at Del Mar. Last year, Bellabel beat Sixteen Arches and Island of Love.

The year before, in 2021, Madone ran past favorite Going Global and Tetragonal. The San Clement is often a competitive race. So make sure to handicap every horse before deciding on the winner.

Todd Pletcher trained Nest hasn’t raced since finishing fourth behind stablemate Malathaat in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff last November. Pletcher hopes Nest can use a Shuvee victory to springboard to a run in this year’s Breeders Cup Distaff.

Next faces one of the top mares in the nation, Clariere. Connections for Played Hard and Sixtythreecaliber have also confirmed.
