Last week we discussed updated odds for the Breeders’ Cup Classic. This week we look at one of the co-features on BC Saturday, November 7, the Breeders’ Cup Distaff. Although the Distaff likely won’t attract as many horses as the Classic, the horses the distaff does attract should be ready roll. Check out also top plays and Horse Racing Odds from Breeders Cup for Friday, Nov. 6 – Saturday, Nov. 7. Among Monomoy Girl, Swiss Skydiver, Gamine and Shedaresthedevil, which runner offers the fairest odds to win the 2020 Breeders’ Cup Distaff?

It’s difficult to go against Monomoy Girl. She didn’t race in 2019. In three races in 2020, though, she’s dominated. Overall, the Brad Cox trained 5-year-old mare has 14 wins and a couple of second place finishes. At above even money, she’s worth a look. Yes, she’s that good.

But if you want to beat the chalk, look no further than the second choice, Swiss Skydiver. The Preakness Stakes winner probably should have taken the Kentucky Oaks. She may have bounced in the Oaks after her awesome Alabama victory.

She’ll have a month in between the Preakness and the Distaff. That’s plenty of time for Kenny McPeek to get the Daredevil sired 3-year-old miss ready for this massive event.

Which equine with odds from +1000 to +1600 has the best chance of pulling off a BC Distaff upset victory?

3-year-old Harvest Moon has won four in a row. She beat Hard Not to Love and Fighting Mad to take the Grade 2 Zenyatta in her last. Although she must run faster than she ever has before to win this, she might be improving at the right time.

Another horse in this betting range with a shot is +1200 Valiance. Todd Pletcher trains, Luis Saez rides, and Tapit sired. Those are three huge pluses. Not only that but like Harvest Moon, Valiance is on fire having won her last three races, including the Grade 1 Juddmonte Spinster Stakes where she put a beating onto Ollie’s Candy and Shedaresthedevil.

What horse offering odds of +2000 or more can beat the favorites and win the Breeders’ Cup Distaff?

Vexatious failed in her last. She didn’t feel like chasing after Horologist, Lady Kate, and Monomoy Girl in the Grade 1 La Troienne. There’s no reason why she didn’t want to run on that day.

Look a couple races back and you can see that on her best day, she can beat these. Make no mistake, backing Vexatious to win the BC Distaff means you expect her to bounce back from a terrible effort. Then again, that’s why she’s +2000, right? If you’re looking for a longshot with a chance, Vexatious is the play.
