We have a very good one lined up for the next few days, with a pair of division leaders set to square off in a 3-game series.

The NL West leading Arizona Diamondbacks will be at home to face the AL East leading Tampa Bay Rays, with this series set to begin on Tuesday night. These two teams have combined for over 100 wins on the season, so this should be a fantastic series, but who will win it?

Why Bet on the Tampa Bay Rays

It has been an incredible first half of the season for the Tampa Bay Rays, who come into this week sporting the best record in baseball. They are at 54-27 on the year, and while that is certainly a great effort, there are signs that this team might be in need of a break, as they have been playing .500 ball over the last 10 games and have seen their lead atop the division reduced to 4 games.

This is a team that is also much better at home than on the road, going 34-10 in their own building versus 20-17 away from home, so might that come into play in this series? It’s tough to say as the Rays have been pretty solid in interleague games, going 15-9 in those outings to this point. They are ahead of the D-Backs in most notable stats categories, but that can all go out the window in a huge series.

Why Bet on the Arizona Diamondbacks

There was definitely an expectation that the NL West might be a little tighter this season, as most believed that the Dodgers might be ready to take a bit of a backward step. The Diamondbacks have played their part in trying to flip the division and are heading toward the break with a 2 ½ game lead atop the West right now. They have put together a record of 47-32 as they look to hold off the chasing pack.

Unlike the Rays, the D-Backs have been consistent at home and on the road, going 23-18 at home and 24-14 on the road. They have also been decent in interleague play, putting together an 11-6 record in those outings. This, though, has to be considered their toughest test yet.

Expert Pick and Series Prediction

While the Rays current form does make me a little nervous, you cannot escape the fact that they are solid from top to bottom and could explode again at any given time. The Diamondbacks have been steady from the off, and this has to be seen as a very stern test. Tuesday looks like a bit of a coin flip to me, while Wednesday and Thursday have pitching matchups that lean toward the Rays. With that in mind, I am taking Tampa to win 2 of 3 in this series.
