Why Bet on Texas?
Despite ruling out ALCS MVP Adolis Garcia – and Game 3 starting pitcher Max Scherzer – for the rest of the series due to injury, the Rangers didn’t miss a beat in Game 4 with an 11-7 victory to move within one victory of the franchise’s only World Series title. Texas is now 10-0 on the road in these playoffs, an MLB record. d. The Rangers’ .595 overall winning percentage in road Postseason games is the highest in MLB history among teams with 25 such games. Including the 2023 Postseason and regular season, the Rangers are 50-41 away from Globe Life Field.
It is the first time a team took a 3-1 Series lead since the Atlanta Braves in 2021. Of the 49 times that a team has taken a 3-1 lead in the World Series, 42 teams have gone on to win the World Series, with 27 of them clinching a World Championship in Game 5. The 11 runs scored were the most in a World Series game since the Washington Nationals scored 12 runs in Game 2 of the World Series on 10/23/2019 against the Houston Astros. Teams who win Game 4 of the World Series have gone on to win the World Series 85 times (72.0%), including 15 of the last 20 years.
Rookie third baseman was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored and became the fourth player in Rangers’ history with a three-hit game in the World Series. He joins Adolis García (Game 1, 2023 WS); Josh Hamilton (Game 6, 2011 WS); and Adrián Beltré (Game 3, 2011 WS). Travis Jankowski filled in nicely for the injured García in Game 4, going 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored.
Corey Seager blasted another two-run homer, smashing a 1-0 slider from Kyle Nelson for a 431-foot blast in the second inning that extended the Rangers’ early lead to 5-0. He also smacked a ground-rule double in the ninth inning, finishing the evening 2-for-5. He’s hitting .306 (19-for-62) with six homers, 12 RBI and 17 runs scored in these playoffs. Seager’s 19 career Postseason home runs as a shortstop are second-most all-time, surpassing Carlos Correa. Derek Jeter holds the record with 20. Marcus Semien homered, tripled and drove in five runs on Tuesday.
The Rangers exploded for five runs in the second and third innings, marking the first time in World Series history that a team scored five-or-more runs in back-to-back innings. As a team, the Rangers hit for the cycle in the third inning becoming the ninth team (10th occurrence) in World Series history to hit for the cycle in an inning.
It’s right-hander Nathan Eovaldi on the mound. He struggled in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday night, surrendering five runs on six hits over his 4 2/3 innings of work. The 33-year-old racked up eight strikeouts evening while allowing just one base on balls. He looked dominant through the first two frames — retiring the first six batters in order, four of them via the strikeout.
The Diamondbacks broke through against him in the third inning as Corbin Carroll smacked a two-run triple and scored on a fielder’s choice. He then served up a solo homer to Tommy Pham in the fourth and allowed an RBI double to Ketel Marte before exiting in the fifth. Eovaldi got 17 whiffs on 89 pitches on the night — 11 of them on his splitter — while posting a CSW of 33 percent. Eovaldi still has a 3.52 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and a 36/5 K/BB ratio over 30 2/3 innings in the postseason.
Eovaldi will be looking to close out the World Series after already earning the clinching victory in both the AL Wild Card Series (6 2/3 innings, one run vs. the Rays) and the AL Division Series (seven innings, one run vs. the O’s).

Why Bet on Arizona?
Second baseman Ketel Marte (2-for-5,1 2B) hit a single in the first inning Tuesday to extend his Postseason hitting streak to 20 games. That streak, which dates back to 2017, is the longest in Postseason history, surpassing 17-game streaks by Manny Ramirez, Derek Jeter and Hank Bauer. Marte’s streak is also the longest by a player to begin his Postseason career. Marte has reached in each of his first 20 career Postseason games, marking the third longest on-base streak to begin a Postseason career. Daniel Murphy of the New York Mets and Washington Nationals reached in each of his first 21 career Postseason games from 10/9/2015 through 10/7/2017. Boog Powell of the Baltimore Orioles reached in each of his first 25 career Postseason games from 10/5/1966 through 10/11/1971.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 2-for-3 with a homer and four RBI in the loss. Gurriel got the Diamondbacks on the board with an RBI single off of Andrew Heaney in the fourth inning, but all that did was pull the Diamondbacks to within nine runs at 10-1. He then slugged a 382-foot three-run shot off of Chris Stratton in the eighth inning that made it an 11-5 ballgame. For the postseason, the 30-year-old outfielder is hitting .274 (17-for-62) with three homers, 11 RBI and a pair of stolen bases.
The most recent team to rally from 3-1 down in a series and win it was Corey Seager’s 2020 Dodgers, against the Braves in the NL Championship Series. The most recent to do so in the World Series was Aroldis Chapman’s 2016 Cubs, who snapped their title drought by winning Games 6 and 7 at Cleveland. Arizona was down 3-2 in the NLCS and won the final two games in Philadelphia.
The D-backs did have something positive to take away from Tuesday they shut the Rangers offense down for the most part after the third inning while scoring six runs in the final two innings and making Texas manager Bruce Bochy use his closer, José Leclerc.
It’s ace righty Zac Gallen on the hill Wednesday. Gallen wasn’t at his best last Friday in Game 1 of the World Series, posting a no-decision after allowing three runs on four hits over his five innings. The 28-year-old hurler issued four free passes on the night while punching out five batters.
The Rangers got to him early — with a pair of runs in the first inning on an RBI double by Evan Carter and a run-scoring single off the bat of Adolis Garcia. They added another in the third as Gallen walked Mitch Garver with the bases loaded, but he then got Jonah Heim to fly out to center to end the threat. The right-hander generated 11 swings and misses on 99 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 29 percent. He exited after five innings with a two-run lead and in line for a win — until Paul Sewald suffered a blown save in the ninth. For the postseason, he sports a 5.27 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and an 18/13 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings in his five starts.
Gallen was an entirely different pitcher at home than he was on the road. During the regular season, he went 12-3 with a 2.47 ERA at Chase Field, compared to just 5-6 with a 4.42 ERA on the road. Only one of Gallen’s previous five starts this postseason has come at home.
