As the Dodgers try to claw their way back into the race for the NL West, they need to take advantage of teams that are falling out of the playoff picture. They can do that on Tuesday night when they face the sinking Pittsburgh Pirates with Emmet Sheehan on the mound. This pitcher is just 21 years of age, but he has looked like a veteran in his limited appearances with the Dodgers. In his 3 starts, he has gone 2-0 with an ERA of 2.65. I like him to put in another solid showing against the Pirates on Tuesday.

Pablo Lopez

Minnesota Twins | No. 49

A lot of times when making these picks, I look for situations where a pitcher might be in a position to get the W even when they are not playing at their best. That is where Lopez is at the moment, as he has been a little up and down all season long. He will head into the Wednesday game against the Kansas City Royals with a record of 4-5 and a 4.24 ERA. He is, though, coming off an excellent outing against the Orioles, where he gave up just 1 ER in 6 innings of work. Another showing like that and he will get another W.

Eury Perez

Miami Marlins | No. 39

Right now, the Miami Marlins are in a Wild Card spot, which is probably the path they are going to need to take to the postseason given that the Atlanta Braves are running away with the NL East. One man that is certainly helping their cause is Eury Perez, who is 5-2 this season with an ERA of just 2.47. He will be on the mound to face the Cardinals on Thursday night and the reason I am so high on him is because of what he has done at home this season. In those starts, he is 3-0 with an ERA of 1.01, so he is a must start here.

Aaron Civale

Cleveland Guardians | No. 43
Bats: Right / Throws: Right

I often like to go right back to pitchers who are coming off a quality start, which is why Civale finds himself on this list. He will take the mound for the Guardians on Friday night when they take on the Kansas City Royals. Civale is 2-2 on the season, but he has a very respectable 2.96 ERA. His last start was particularly good, and while he was not credited with the win in an 8-6 OT win over the Cubs, he did surrender just 1 run in 6 innings of work. I think we can expect more of the same on Friday.
