Top MLB Pitchers for Follow this Week 20

We have reached Week 20 of the Major League Baseball season.

What a year it has been so far, and we expect the great games to continue.

While we look at Week 20, we want to highlight the top Major League Baseball pitchers for the week.

Let’s get to it:

Writer’s Pitchers Picks for MLB Week 20

Brandon Pfaadt, Arizona Diamondbacks

Monday, August 19th, 2024

Pfaadt gets a chance to take on Miami on the road.

The Diamondbacks are one of the surging teams in the National League.

Remember, this is the same team that went to the World Series a season ago.

Pfaadt is 7-6 on the season, and his ERA is now under 4.00 on the season.

Getting a chance to start the week with Miami is always good for a starting pitcher.

Lafer in the week, the Diamondbacks go to Boston, which will likely be a tougher lineup to navigate through.

The Diamondbacks win Monday, and Pfaadt throws it well.

Bryan Woo, Seattle Mariners

Monday, August 19th, 2024

Woo gets a tough test to start the week.

He gets the Los Angeles Dodgers, and he gets them on the road.

Woo’s numbers have been tremendous.

He is 5-1 on the season with a 2.06 earned run average.

He has struck out 56 batters in 74.1 innings.

He is the lead pitcher for a Seattle team in a pennant race for the American League West.

Woo and the Mariners get to come home and host the Giants over the weekend, gim two National League West foes.

Kevin Gausman, Toronto Blue Jays

Monday, August 19th, 2024

The veteran right hander gets a chance to start the week at home against the Cincinnati Reds.

Gausman is seeking his 12th win of the season.

He will get Hunter Greene and the Cincinnati Reds in his first start.

Gausman just knows how to pitch.

Look for him to keep the Reds a little off balance in the game.

Later in the week, Gausman and the Blue Jays get a home game against the Angels.

A good week to keep an eye on the veteran.

Tanner Houck, Boston Red Sox

A tough start for Houck as he is on the road at the Houston Astros on Monday.

But, Houck just continues to pitch well.

He is 8-8, but an ERA of just over 3.00 on the season.

The youngster has pitched over 146 innings this season, and has 127 strikeouts, with just 9 home runs allowed.

The 28 year old will then get a home game against Arizona.

Tough competition, with two postseason teams on the schedule.

Let’s see if the youngster can adapt and throw it well.

Mitch Keller, Pittsburgh Pirates

Tuesday, August 20th, 2024

The Pittsburgh Pirates have hit the skids in the 2024 season.

The National League Central is the Brewers, and everyone else bunched up playing poor baseball.

Keller gets Texas on Tuesday.

The Rangers are a very hot or cold baseball team.

Texas shut down the offense many games this year, which gives us hope for Keller to come away with a strong start.

After the Rangers, the Pirates get the Reds over the weekend.

A divisional rivalry game at home is another good chance to see Keller motivated.

There it is.

Those are our Top Major League Baseball pitchers to follow for Week 20.

Enjoy the games on the field and best of luck with all your betting!

MLB Pitchers to Back in Week 20

Previous Betting News

We are heading down the home stretch in the MLB regular season, and while some teams are already a lock for the playoffs, there are still some spots up for grabs. A couple of divisions are still far from decided, while the battle for Wild Card places is likely to go all the way down to the wire. The pressure is very much on for the teams still in the hunt for a postseason spot, with much of that pressure falling on the shoulders of the starting pitchers of those squads. The pitchers who are able to handle that pressure might well prove to be the difference between a team making it in or being forced to sit out the playoffs. Let’s look ahead to the next few days and pick out some pitchers we like to shine to win big with the MLB betting odds.

MLB Top Pitchers after Week 20 of the season | MLB Lines by MyBookie

MLB Week 20: Monday August 21 – Sunday August 27, 2023

Charlie Morton

Atlanta Braves | #50
Bats: Right / Throws: Right

The Braves are one team that don’t really need to worry about the postseason, as they have all but clinched the NL East. In fact, they come into this week with a 12 ½ game lead in the division and a team that looks set to make a deep run. The pitching has been outstanding for the Braves all season long, with Charlie Morton playing his part. He has gone 12-10 this season with an ERA of 3.54, but he appears to be getting stronger as the season progresses. In fact, he has not surrendered a run in his last 2 starts, in which he pitched 11 full innings.

Clayton Kershaw

Los Angeles Dodgers | #22
Bats: Left / Throws: Left

The Dodgers are another team that has, unsurprisingly, opened up a massive lead in their division. It can be tough to keep playing at such a high level when a playoff spot is all but assured, but players know that going into the postseason on a good run of form is important. The Dodgers will be in Cleveland for a series in the early part of the week, with Kershaw set to take the mound on Wednesday night. He has gone 6-3 in road games this season, posting an ERA of 3.09 in those outings. Look for another W coming his way on Wednesday night.

Jose Berrios

Toronto Blue Jays | #17
Bats: Right / Throws: Right

As always, it is rather slim pickings on Thursday night, and I will admit that this pick is a bit of a risk. The Blue Jays have been up and down all season long, so you never really know what to expect from them on any given night. Berrios comes into this week with a 9-8 record and an ERA of 3.39, plus the Jays have lost in each of his last 2 starts. You can see from that why I see this as a bit of a risky pick. That does not tell the whole story, though, as he was unfortunate in his last start, giving up 0 ER in 5.2 innings in what ended up being a 1-0 loss. If he pitches like that again on Thursday, look for the Jays to win.

Framber Valdez

Houston Astros | #59
Bats: Right / Throws: Left

Some will look at this as a disappointing season for the Astros, but as we come down the stretch, they are still in the hunt for the division, sitting a game and a half back of the Rangers. They have a winnable weekend series coming up against the Detroit Tigers, with Valdez set to get the start on Friday night. He is coming off an absolute nightmare evening in his last outing and has now lost 2 in a row, but I have a feeling he is going to bounce back this week.
