Last week was something a little different in NASCAR, with each of the races taking place on a road course.

This weekend, it will be a return to the oval track in Richmond for the Xfinity Series ToyotaCare250. This will be the 6ht race on the Xfinity Series schedule this season and we are starting to see the driver standings take shape. There is, though, still a lot of racing to come before we start to seriously talk about the playoffs and who might be in or out. We are still waiting for the odds for this race to go live, but we have seen enough racing this season to have some idea of the drivers who might be in the hunt in Richmond this weekend.

Xfinity Series ToyotaCare 250 Odds to Win

  • Chandler Smith +350
  • Cole Custer +450
  • Austin Hill +1400
  • Jesse Love +1400

Austin Hill

Last season, Hill got off to an amazing start through the first 5 races, winning 3and finishing no worse than 7th. It all seemed to fall apart for Hill after that, though, as he won just 1 race the rest of the way. The question now is whether or not history will repeat, as Hill is once again off to a fast start. He won the opening 2 races of the season and has been in the top 5 in each of the first 5 races of the year. Hill has been easily the most consistent driver in the early going, but can he maintain it this time around? Hill finished in the top 10 in this race last season, finishing 9th, but I think we can expect better this year.

Chandler Smith

Smith is another driver that is off to a very solid start to the season, finishing in the top 10 in all 5 races thus far. This is a fantastic start for a guy that finished 9th overall in his first full season with the Xfinity Series, and I believe that it shows that he might well be looking at a better finish this season. Smith has 1 win through the opening 5 races, but there is reason to believe that he might add to that this weekend, as Smith won this race in 2023. I think he is definitely worth a look here.

Cole Custer

It is tough to win a championship in NASCAR, especially when you consider the talent level of all the other drivers. Winning it in back-to-back seasons is tougher still, but that is exactly what Custer will be looking to do in 2024. His championship win last season was all the more impressive when you consider that Custer had been away from the Xfinity Series for a couple of years. Custer got off to a slow start this year, but he is now on a run of 3 straight top 5 finishes. He was in the top 5 in Richmond last season, so he looks to be a good bet.

Jesse Love

At just 19 years of age, Love is still very much in the early stages of his career. He very much looked like a rookie through the opening 3 races of the season, with 12th his best finish in that run. He looks to be getting settled, though, as he ran 2nd in Phoenix and followed that up with a 6th place run on the road course last weekend. Given that this is his first Richmond run at this level, it’s tough to know what to expect, but his recent form suggests he could be in the hunt this weekend.

2023 ToyotaCare 250 Betting

This week, the NASCAR Xfinity Series heads to Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Virginia. The NASCAR Xfinity Series has traditionally been the minor-league circuit to the top-tier Cup Series. The Xfinity Series has offered NASCAR Cup Drivers the opportunity to drive in the lower tier on their days off, often taking away spots in the field from younger drivers interested in gaining experience.

NASCAR has put limits on competing across series to keep Cup Series drivers focused on the Cup Series, allowing younger drivers to use the Xfinity Series to build a profile in the sport. This week, the Xfinity Series moves to Richmond Raceway for some short-track action.

Let’s take a look at this week’s NASCAR lines for the Xfinity Series Pit Boss 250 running at Richmond Raceway for some short-track action.

Richmond Raceway: The Action Track

The ToyotaCare 250 starts on April 1, 2023. The ToyotaCare 250 is one of two NASCAR races held in the spring at the Richmond Raceway. The course also hosts two races in the fall and traditionally hosts the final race in the schedule before the Chase for the Championship series starts in both divisions.

The course itself is a 0.75-mile asphalt race track. The track and the speeds it reaches provide fans with that old-school rubbing and racing that NASCAR is known for. Richmond has long been a fan favorite in NASCAR, and we should expect more of the same this weekend in the Xfinity Series.

Xfinity Series Drivers to Target in Richmond

Six races into the Xfinity Series season, some clear trends are emerging. Four drivers have scored top ten placements in six races so far.  Those drivers are Riley Herbst, John H. Nemechek, Austin Hill, and Josh Berry. All four drivers would be worth wagering on to win or place in the top ten again.

The most appealing bet out of this pack is Austin Hill. Hill has had a great start to the race season. He has won two pole positions, won three races outright, and finished in the top-ten five times. Hill’s momentum was slowed slightly last week with his first DNF of the season due to engine troubles. At +1000 for this week, there’s a significant opportunity for value on Hill at the Richmond track.

Since the Xfinity Series is a place for younger drivers to shine, check out Sheldon Creed at +1250. Creed has started four of the six races this season in the top ten of the starting grid and has three top-tens and one top-five finish.

Another young driver to check out is 18-year-old Sammy Smith. Smith is driving his first full-time season in the Xfinity Series and has run well over the last three races. He won the 2023 United Rentals 200 in Phoenix, won the pole in Atlanta, and finished fourth at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin. At +660, he’s an intriguing youngster who we could see at the higher levels of NASCAR quickly.
