The NBA is back in action this week after the All-Star break, and teams will show off their new threads after the trade deadline. This brings up several betting opportunities, with some intriguing weekend matchups on the slate. Let’s examine a few matchups and provide you with the NBA top picks for this weekend.

Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers

When: Saturday, February 25

I’m the prime-time matchup for Saturday, all fans will have their eyes on the potential playoff matchup of two of the top teams in the East when the Philadelphia 76ers (43-20) host the Boston Celtics (45-19) at Wells Fargo Center.

The Sixers are one of the most dangerous teams in the NBA, and they will be looking to make a statement against the East’s favorite team to get back to the Finals. Philadelphia is eighth in offensive rating, seventh in defensive rating, and sixth in net rating. The Sixers should have some momentum, as they have covered the spread in each of their last four contests.

The Celtics’ favorite starting five might be intact Thursday night in Indiana for the second game this season, so the All-Star break arrived at the right time. Despite this, Marcus Smart is coming off an ankle injury, while Jaylen Brown will be debuting his face mask coming back from injury.

The Celtics are in line for three straight road games, and I think they lose their biggest challenge.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Utah Jazz UNDER

When: Saturday, February 25
Where: Vivint Smart Home Arena

One of my favorite matchups of the week takes place on Saturday night between the Utah Jazz (30-31) and the San Antonio Spurs (14-46). The Jazz will host the Spurs in this matchup, and despite weakening their roster, Utah is 3-0-2 ATS over their last five contests.

This should benefit Utah, with the spread being a lot closer than it should be. The San Antonio Spurs have lost 23 of their last 25 road games and 17 straight. The Spurs seem like an auto-fade. San Antonio has lost 15 straight contests and 20 of their last 21 overall. In addition, the Spurs have failed to cover the spread in 13 of their last 14 games.

There seems to be no motivation from Greg Popovic’s young squad, and they traded away two of their top veterans at the deadline. Bet against the Spurs all day.

Phoenix Suns vs. Milwaukee Bucks

When: Sunday, February 26
Where: Fiserv Forum

Time: 1:00 PM ET
TV: ABC

Sunday’s matchup between the Phoenix Suns (32-28) and the Milwaukee Bucks (41-17) will be one to watch as a new look Suns team looks to outplay arguably the hottest team in the league.

Phoenix made a monster deal to acquire Kevin Durant at the trade deadline, but they also traded away three key pieces to their roster. It will be interesting to see how the Suns respond. However, Durant is dealing with a knee sprain, so he might not even factor into this game.

By the same token, the Milwaukee Bucks are dealing with a slew of injuries themselves and could be without their top player Giannis Antetokounmpo. Be that as it may, the Bucks find ways to get the job done, and I’m not counting them out at home.

Milwaukee enters this contest, having won 12 contests in a row and 14 of their last 15. Not only have they covered the spread in five of their last six games, but they have won eight in a row at home.

There should be plenty of value on the Bucks without some of their top players, and I believe Phoenix is an overrated team that struggles to win on the road (12-18). Pick the Bucks to cover in this one.
