As we head into the final few weeks of the NFL regular season, there are a few teams that are already safely in the playoffs, even though they may not yet have officially clinched a spot. The next couple of weeks will see those teams get the job done, starting with the NFL Week 13 betting odds favorite and defending champions New England Patriots.
In the AFC, there is a bit of a mad scramble going on for the Wild Card scraps, as it would appear that the top two teams are now essentially set in stone. The Steelers and the Patriots are the class of the conference, with both sitting on 9-2 records. They have a head to head clash coming up in a couple of weeks that may well decide the #1 seed in the AFC, but there is still some work to be done before then.
The Patriots will go on the road this weekend to face a Buffalo Bills team that is still showing a playoff pulse, albeit a weak one. New England is in as a 9-point road favorite, with the point total for this one set at 48.
After all, this was a group that had given up 135 points in the 3 previous games, so that 10-point performance against the Chiefs ad to have instilled some confidence into a group that badly needed it ahead of this game. The Bills are 4-1 SU at home this season, going 3-1-1 ATS in those 5 games.

Why bet on the New England Patriots?
Getting crushed in the opening week of the season and suffering an early rash of injuries had people talking about the New England Patriots perhaps beginning to look mortal this year. Those early doubts have been totally set aside now, as the Patriots have reeled off 7 straight wins and once again set themselves up as the team to beat in the AFC. We don’t really need to talk about the performances of Tom Brady, as there is nothing new that we can really add to that subject. What we do need to talk about is a Patriots defense that has been stifling after giving up 40+ points in week 1. During this 7-game winning streak, the Patriots D has only been giving up an average of 13 PPG. Even if Brady and the offense were struggling, which it certainly is not, this team would probably still be cranking out wins. The Patriots have won 22 of their last 25 games against Buffalo, so it’s hard to imagine them losing this one, just as the NFL Week 13 betting odds foretells.Team Statistics

Why bet on the Buffalo Bills?
The Bills looked like a legitimate playoff contender in the first half of the season, but a 3-game losing skid saw them fall off the pace. They decided to make a change last weekend, putting in Tyrod Taylor as the starting QB, and while it was not the greatest offensive performance ever seen, the Bills did manage to pull out a 16-10 win over the Chiefs to keep their playoff hopes alive. The best part of that win, though, had to have been the performance from the defense.
