Olympic Tennis Odds: Breaking Down the Contenders and Upsets

2024 Olympics Tennis Calendar: Picks, Upsets and Longshots
| MyBookie Tennis Analysis of the Race to Gold

Early Round Recap

The first round has concluded at the men’s Olympic tennis tournament in Paris, France and the draw has largely gone as expected thus far, with only a couple upsets and all top-10 players advancing.

This year’s Olympic tennis tournament is an interesting one as it takes place at Roland Garros, where about two months ago Carlos Alcaraz won his third career grand slam.

Alcaraz won again at Wimbledon and is now the betting favorite to win the Olympic gold medal.

Writer’s Picks for Olympic Tennis

Players Action in the Next Matches

Although he hasn’t had his best year on the ATP Tour, Novak Djokovic earned the top seed in Paris and won his first-round match against Aussie Matthew Ebden 6-0, 6-1.

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner withdrew before the start of the tournament, as did Aussie Alex de Minuar.

Men’s Outright Odds

Carlos Alcaraz -138

Novak Djokovic +250

Alexander Zverev +650

Casper Ruud +1400

Rafael Nadal +1600

Stefanos Tsitsipas +2000

Daniil Medvedev +2800

Taylor Fritz +4000

Lorenzo Musetti +5000

Felix Auger Aliassime +6600

Olympic Tennis Potential Upsets

Nadal is the “King of Clay” for a reason.

The 14-time French Open winner excels at Roland Garros and might just have one more notable moment left before he rides off into the sunset.

But Djokovic has had his own injury troubles this season and, with it being only a three-set match, Nadal could very well score the upset.

Dan Evans (+880) vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas (-2273)

This is a bit more wishful thinking, but it wouldn’t be completely surprising if Dan Evans were to beat eighth-ranked Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The Olympics are known for being unpredictable and, with few upsets in the first round, expect some in the second round.

Evans is the defending champion at the DC Citi Open, which is taking place this week in Washington, so he could use that as a motivator in Paris.

Tsitsipas is 4-0 against Evans, but has had a disappointing season.

Longshot Picks

If the Olympics were anywhere but Paris, there would be some potential interesting longshot picks.

But Alcaraz is likely to continue his dominance on clay and make a run to the final.

Olympic Tennis Final Picks

Even as a major betting favorite, I’m not betting against Alcaraz at Roland Garros, especially considering how favorable of a draw he has.

Tommy Paul, ranked ninth, is the top seed he could face in the quarter-finals, and he could potential meet Djokovic in the final.

He beat Djokovic in straight sets here in the final of the French Open.

Pick: Alcaraz
