NCAAF AP Top 25 Expert Analysis & Betting Options

Two weeks of football does not a season make, but you do have to say that the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs look like the two best teams in college football right now. There is a lot of football still to be played, though, and as we have seen already, you cannot take anything for granted. We have already seen Ohio State and Clemson lose, although the Tigers did fall to Georgia, which makes you wonder who might be next. The feeling already is that the top 25 is going to see some big changes every week, but who will rise and who will fall. We are looking at what’s ahead for the teams in the Top 25 in Week 3 and making some picks that we like. Let’s get right to it so you can keep placing your bets against the NCAAF odds.

College Football – Top 25 Analysis and betting opportunities

The game of the week see’s the #1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide go on the road to face the #11 ranked Florida Gators as a 15 ½ point favorite. The Gators have been better than expected through the first couple of weeks, but this is their biggest test yet. I think the way to go with this one is with the OVER, as that has been the way things have gone in each of their last 5 meetings.

The #7 ranked Texas A&M Aggies dropped a couple of spots in the National Rankings after a poor showing in a 10-7 win over Colorado. If they have playoff aspirations, they need to put together a much better performance against New Mexico in Week 3. The Aggies are a 28-point favorite, and while that does seem a little bit on the high side, keep in mind that they are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 non-conference games.

A lot of people are looking at the #8 ranked Cincinnati Bearcats as a dark horse this season, and while they have looked good in their opening 2 games, a road trip to face the Indiana Hoosiers this weekend looks like a much tougher task. It is the OVER that jumps out here for a couple of different reasons. The OVER has hit in 5 of the last 6 games in which Cincy was a road favorite, while also hitting in the last 6 games that the Hoosiers have played against a team with a winning record.

We have another pair of top 25 teams squaring off in Week 3, with the #22 ranked Auburn Tigers going on the road to face the #10 ranked Penn State Nittany Lions. Both have very good trends going against the spread, making it tough to pick one or the other. One thing that does stand out is the potential for the UNDER to hit here. The UNDER has hit in 6 of Auburn’s last 7 road games, while also hitting in each of the last 4 games that Penn State has played in the month of September.

Let’s close this preview out by taking a look at the #2 ranked Georgia Bulldogs, who will play their first conference game this weekend at home to the South Carolina Gamecocks. There are reasons to like both teams ATS, with Georgia in as a 30-point favorite. It is the OVER that looks good here, though, with 6 of the last 8 going that way.
