Think of Betting 2024-25 Bowl Schedule
Bowl season is one of the most exciting times for college football fans.
This year, bowl season will be even bigger with the expansion of the College Football Playoff (CFP) to 12 teams.
College Football Bowl Calendar offer teams a chance to finish their seasons on a high note and provide fans with exciting matchups.
The first bowl games kick off on December 14, 2024, and the season will end with the College Football Playoff National Championship on January 20, 2025.
With 47 total games, including CFP rounds, this year’s bowl season promises to deliver plenty of action.
It’s never too early to look at the full schedule and get ready for the most wonderful time of the college football season.
How Do Teams Qualify for a Bowl Game?
Teams must win at least six games in the regular season to become bowl-eligible.
Only one of those wins can be against an FCS opponent that awards scholarships.
If not enough teams reach the six-win mark, there are other ways for schools to qualify:
- Teams with six wins but a loss in their conference championship.
- Teams impacted by FCS opponents that didn’t meet scholarship requirements.
- 6-7 teams that missed the postseason in their conference.
- Teams moving from FCS to FBS.
- 5-7 teams ranked by their Academic Progress Rate (APR).
These qualification rules ensure that all bowl spots are filled, even if some teams finish below .500.
This system allows for flexibility, making sure fans get competitive matchups in every bowl game.
Key Bowls to Watch
Rose Bowl
The Rose Bowl in Pasadena is one of the most iconic bowl games in college football history.
Known as “The Granddaddy of Them All,” the Rose Bowl has been a New Year’s Day tradition since 1902.

Orange Bowl
The Capital One Orange Bowl will take place on January 9, 2025, as one of the CFP semifinals.
Held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, this game will feature two of the nation’s top teams.
The winner of the Orange Bowl will advance to the national championship, making it one of the most high-stakes games of the postseason.
National Championship Game
The 2024-25 season will conclude with the CFP National Championship on January 20, 2025, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
With the expanded 12-team playoff format, this year’s road to the championship will be tougher than ever.

What two bowls kick off the season on December 16?
On Friday, December 16, the HomeTown Lenders Bahamas Bowl and the Cure Bowl kick off bowl season. The HomeTown Lenders Bahamas Bowl takes place at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas.
The Cure Bowl at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, FL. What’s interesting is that the Bahamas Bowl starts at 11:30 am ET and the Cure Bowl starts at 3:00 pm ET. Both games happen earlier in the day, which is different from what has happened in the past.
Which day is the most prolific for college football bowls?
6 bowl games happen on Saturday, December 17, which is 1 more bowl game than the 5 that take place on December 30. See below for a list of the bowl games and their scheduled kick off times.
- Wasabi Fenway Bowl – 11:00 am ET
- New Mexico Bowl – 2:15 pm ET
- Jimmy Kimmel L.A. Bowl Presented by Stifel – 3:30 pm ET
- LendingTree Bowl – 5:45 pm ET
- SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl – 7:30 pm ET
- Frisco Bowl – 9:15 pm ET
Way did the NCAAF move the top tradition New Year’s Day bowls from January 1 to January 2?
January 1 lands on a Sunday this season. There’s no way the top broadcasters in the United States, ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX, are going to miss out on NFL Week 17.
If the NCAA had kept the traditional bowl schedule, they’d get very few eyeballs for 4 massive bowl games. Check out the 4 that college football will play on Monday, January 2.
- ReliaQuest Bowl – 12:00 pm ET
- Citrus Bowl – 1:00 pm ET
- Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic – 1:00 pm ET
- Rose Bowl Game – 5:00 pm ET
Which two bowls make up this year’s College Football Playoff Semifinals?
4 bowls happen on December 31. The first couple start at 12:00 pm ET. The TransPerfect Music City Bowl and All-State Sugar Bowl kick off the festivities. The Sugar Bowl usually takes place during prime time. So the 12:00 pm kickoff is a change.
After the Sugar Bowl and Music City Bowl, the two College Football Playoff Semifinals take place. The times are to be determined.
The bowls will be the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia and the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Where will the 2023 College Football National Championship take place?
The CFP National Championship presented by AT&T happens on Monday, January 9. The location is SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
SoFi is home to both the Los Angeles Chargers and the Los Angeles Rams. The stadium hosted Super Bowl 56, which the Rams won. No doubt, SoFi will join the running list of National Championship stadiums.
