We are just 1 full week into the college football season, and we can already remember why we all love this sport so much. There were so many huge moments in the opening week, with the likes of Old Dominion stunning Virginia Tech, LSU marching the length of the field to score with 1 second remaining, only to miss the PAT and lose, and the reigning champions looking scary good in a stunning Week 1 display. Week 2 has a lot to live up to after what just went down, but as those of us who follow college football know, there are plenty of other weeks like this one still to come. For now, we are going to start looking ahead and making some College Football Betting picks, starting with out ATS selections for Week 2 of the college football season.
NCAAF Week 2 Against the Spread Betting Picks | 2022 College Football Analysis
South Carolina Gamecocks at Arkansas Razorbacks (-8)
Both of these teams got their season off to a winning start, but you do have to say that Arkansas delivered the more impressive of the two wins. The Gamecocks expectedly won and covered against Georgia State, but the Razorbacks had a much tougher matchup against the Cincinnati Bearcats, a playoff team from last season, winning 31-24 and covering the spread in the process. The problem that South Carolina has this week is that they are just 3-11 ATS in their last 14 games versus SEC opposition, while also 2-6 ATS in their last 8 visits to Arkansas. On the flipside, the Razorbacks are now 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. I have to go with the Razorbacks in this one.
UNC Tar Heels (-8) at Georgia State Panthers
If you want to talk about a great escape in Week 1, you need to talk about the UNC Tar Heels. They found themselves dragged into an absolute shootout against the Appalachian State Mountaineers, the kings of the upset, managing to outlast their opponent for a 63-61 win. They are now a perfect 2-0 on the season after winning in Week 0. The Georgia State Panthers opened up their season against the South Carolina Gamecocks, losing 35-14 in that one. Given that the Tar Heels put up 63 points against the Mountaineers, you would like them to deliver a similar type of showing against what is probably a weaker opponent. The Tar Heels are now 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games played in the month of September.
Houston Cougars at Texas Tech Red Raiders (-2 ½)
Winning early helps to build confidence, so given that both of these teams come into Week 2 after winning their season opener, we can expect both to be going all out to build some early momentum. Looking at the previous matchups between these two, it looks like the Texas Tech Red Raiders have the edge, winning 5 of the last 6 meetings with the Houston Cougars. It’s also worth noting that the Cougars have covered just once in their last 5 games against Texas Tech. The Red Raiders are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 overall, and I really like them to win and cover in their own building this weekend.
