For fans of the 4 teams playing in the National Championship semi-finals, the nerves are surely now starting to kick in with the games just a matter of days away. Before we get to the big games, though, we still have the business of several bowl games to take care of. We are getting to the stage of the season where we are seeing bigger and better matchups, although some that may be affected by players opting to sit out with the NFL Draft looming. There are still going to be plenty of great players out there and a lot of games that are going to be fun to watch. For this piece, we are focusing on the Military Bowl and whether the Duke Blue Devils, who are a 3 ½ point favorite, can win over the UCF Black Knights. Let’s have a look at Duke’s Pros and Cons to win this Military Bowl game so you can bet against the NCAA Football Bowl Odds.
Military Bowl Betting Predictions: Duke is Favorite, Can they Win?
The Pros for the Duke Blue Devils
Not too many people expected much out of Duke this season. After all, this is a team that went just 3-9 last year and who haven’t been in a bowl game since 2018. First year head coach Mike Elko had other plans, though, leading Duke to a very respectable 8-4 season. He put together a very balanced team that was good on both sides of the football. The offense managed to score over 33 PPG, while the defense surrendered just shy of 23 PPG. The is a very good chance that the offense is going to need to meet or surpass their season average against a very solid UCF offense.
Duke comes into this game having won 4 of their last 5 to close out the season, with their lone loss in that run coming against Pitt, who eked out a 28-26 win. They went 5-1 ATS in their last 6, but perhaps more importantly, they have covered the spread in each of their last 5 meetings with a team from the AAC.
The Cons for the Duke Blue Devils
When Duke won this season, they tended to do so in rather comfortable style. Things got a little trickier when games became tight, as most of their 4 losses this season were by very slender margins. With a bit more mental toughness, the Duke Blue Devils might well have been looking at a much better outcome than what they had this year. One thing that concerns me a little is the lack of bowl game experience with this team. Are they going to be happy just to be here or are they going to shine in the national spotlight?
The Duke defense proved itself to be solid in the regular season, but will they hold up against a UCF team that averaged over 34 PPG this season? The OVER may be a good bet here, but the question is whether or not Duke will win.
Will the Duke Blue Devils Win?
This is a game that I think is likely to go back and forth, with both offenses throwing some big shots. If anything, I think Duke is more excited to be here than UCF, which I think might bode well for the Blue Devils. I thin we will see Duke win a close one.
