Does Loves Only You offer overlay or underlay odds?

Horses from Japan, Normcore and Win Bright, have won the last couple of runnings. 2020 winner Normcore owns the record for winning the HK Cup in the fastest time.

Win Bright won in 2019 and finished second to Normcore last year. The reason that’s significant is because Loves Only You is a Japanese horse.

Not only that, but Loves Only You won the Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Sha Tin last April. The race was at this distance. So we know she can win over the course.

Also, the Yoshito Yahagi trained runner beat My Sister Nat and favored War Like Goddess to win the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf earlier in November.

She’s definitely worth backing. But the Hong Kong Cup is a much deeper race than the BC Filly & Mare Turf.

It’s tough to accept low odds on any horse. But we’re not ready to say Loves Only You is an underlay. She dusted Love in the BC Filly & Mare Turf. So we’ll say the odds are fair.

Which horse among Love, State of Rest and Le Papale have the best chance to win the Hong Kong Cup?

Love and Lei Papale must turn around their form to have any shot in this. Love finished fourth at the BC Filly & Mare Turf.

Before that, she finished second in the Grade 2 Blandford Stakes and before that, Love finished third in the Grade 1 Juddmonte Farms.

Lei Papale ran in the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Hansin Racecourse in her last. She finished sixth.

Stae of Rest is in good form. He won the Grade 1 Saratoga Derby in August and the Grade 1 Cox Plate in his last, beating Melbourne Cup winner Verry Elleegant. State of Rest is definitely worth a look.

You should also check out Love. The Coolmoore owned and Aidan O’Brien trained runner tore it up in late 2020. So if Aidan has her rounding back into her best form, she can pull off the upset.

What horses with odds between +900 to +1600 have the best chances of winning the Hong Kong Cup?

Melbourne Cup winner Verry Elleegant is as classy as they come. She beat a 2-to-1 favorie, Incentivise, to take the Melbourne Cup. At the odds, the Australian wonder horse is worth a long look.

Also check out Sealiway and Dubai Honour. Sealiway won the Grade 1 Champions Stake at Royal Ascot in October. Dubai Honour finished second to Sealiway. Both could be on the verge of a top effort.

Are there any underdogs at +2000 odds or higher that have a legitimate shot of winning the HK Cup?

6-year-old U.S. based runner Channel Cat shouldn’t be classy enough to win this. But here’s the thing, few runners in this race have seen early speed like what Channel Cat possesses.

The Jack Sisterson trained runner almost pulled off the front running upset victory over Serve the King in the Grade 2 Red Smith in his last. If Channel Cat gets an easy lead, he could carry his speed to the finish line.

No doubt, Jack is thinking the same thing. If you’re looking to put money behind a longshot with a chance, consider backing Channel Cat because unlike the other +2000 or higher choices, the U.S. runner has a good angle on which to base your bet, front running speed.
