Belmont Park

  • Grade 3 Victory Ride – 6 ½ furlongs dirt – 3 year old fillies

Seven three-year-old fillies are confirmed for the Grade 3 Victory Ride. Wesley Ward trained Happy Soul figures to go off the favorite. The four-time winner finished second behind Lady Scarlet in the Miss Preakness in her last. Pretty Birdie, Sterling Silver, Hot Peppers, Stand Up Comic, Union Lake, and Half Is Enough should also run. 

  • Grade 2 Suburban Handicap – 1 ¼ miles dirt – 4 year olds & up

If trainer Brad Cox enters Warrant, the Brooklyn Invitational second place finisher go off the chalk in the Grade 2 Suburban. Dynamic One, from the Todd Pletcher barn, beat Proxy and Scalding to win the Blame Stakes in his last. Steve Asmussen trained Max Player won this race last year. Pletcher will have a second runner in Untreated while Claude McGaughey will put the saddle on Pimlico Special winner First Captain. 

  • Grade 1 Belmont Oaks – 1 ¼ miles turf – 3 year old fillies

Chad Brown trained McKulick could be sitting on a win. McKulick finished second in the Edgewood and the Regret in her last 2 races. Joseph O’Brien trained Agartha will get a look. Agartha finished fifth in the Grade 1 Irish 1,000 Guineas. Concert Hall, trained by Aidan O’Brien, finished third in the Irish 1,0000 Guineas. Other horses that figure to run in the Belmont Oaks include With the Moonlight, Hot Queen, Know Thyself, Haughty, and Cairo Memories.  

  • Grade 1 Belmont Derby – 1 ¼ miles turf – 3 year olds 

At least ten runners will enter the gate for the Grade 1 Belmont. Classic Causeway runs on turf for the first time. The Kenny McPeek trained equine finished third behind Tawny Port and White Abbario in the Grade 3 Ohio Derby in his last. Two trained by Todd Pletcher, Grand Sonata and Emmanuel will run. So will Kenny McPeek trained and possible favorite Tiz the Bomb, Stone Age from the Aidan O’Brien barn, and Nation’s Pride trained by Charles Appleby.  

Prairie Meadows 

  • Grade 3 Iowa Oaks – 1 1/6 miles dirt – 3 year old fillies

Todd Pletcher trained Falconet has developed into a decent three-year-old filly. Falconet looks for her third straight victory on Saturday. Free Like A Girl, Miss Hard Knocks, Butterbean, My Friend Amy, Candy Raid, Hartley, and Nosilverspoonsphere should also run.  

  • Grade 3 Cornhusker Handicap – 1 1/8 miles dirt – 3 year olds and up

Trainer Brad Cox may decide to forego running in the Suburban Handicap and instead enter Warrant in the Grade 3 Cornhusker. R Rated Superstar has his fans. The Grade 3 Essex Handicap winner should attract some action. So will Steve Asmussen trained Silver Prospector, Fleetridge, and Grade 3 Runhappy third place finisher Officiating.
