NBA 2021 Regular Season MVP Odds Update Feb. 22nd

Written by on February 22, 2021

While a single player can certainly elevate the team that he plays for, the reality is that teams live and die as a group. That said, there is a reason we name an MVP in the NBA every single season, as there are always individuals who are able to put a team on their shoulders and make a run at a championship. As we approach the midway point of the season, now is a good time to look at potential MVP candidates. We are looking at stats, as well as what the NBA has on their official website in terms of current MVP rankings, knowing full well that a lapse in form or an injury can change things dramatically. With that in mind, let’s look at some of the current MVP favorites so you can continue planning your bets against their NBA Regular Season MVP odds.

Updated Odds to Win the 2021 NBA Regular Season MVP

LeBron James (+130)

If you look at the offensive stats in the NBA, you don’t see James in the top 5 in any of the major categories. This is a perfect example of how the MVP award is more than just about the numbers, although that is not to say that stats aren’t important. With Anthony Davis likely out for at least a month with injury, James has found a way to up his game while also playing more minutes. Extra time on the court means more time to pad what are already very good stats. He is averaging 25.9 PPG, 8.2 RPG, and 7.9 APG. According to the Kia MVP Ladder, James is currently ranked in the #1 spot.

Joel Embiid (+330)

It is perhaps a little surprising that the Philadelphia 76ers are currently in the #1 spot in the Eastern Conference right now, as we all expected the Nets and the Bucks to be duking it out for that spot. A big part of the reason why they are there, though, is down to the play of Joel Embiid, who is having a fantastic season to this point. He is averaging over 30 PPG, which has him 2nd in the league in that category. He is #2 in the MVP Ladder despite nursing a sore back right now.

Nikola Jokic (+600)

The Denver Nuggets are not going as well as we expected this season and are currently sitting 8 games out of the lead in the West. That may hurt Nikola Jokic in his efforts at becoming the MVP, but you still have to love what he is delivering on the court this season. To put it all into perspective, Wilt Chamberlain is the only center to have ever average 8 APG in a season, and Jokic is currently on pace to become the second. He is a beast at both ends of the court and is top 5 in defensive rebounds. He is currently listed at #5 in the MVP Ladder.

Damian Lillard (+2000)

Let’s close this out by looking at a player who might well be worth splashing a few bucks on as a longshot pick. With a pair of starters out through injury, Lillard has taken over in Portland and is putting up some gaudy numbers. Rather than just padding his stats, he is also helping the Trail Blazers go on a positive run, where they have now won 8 of their last 10 games. Lillard jumped to #3 in the MVP Ladder this week, so definitely worth a look at a great price.
