3 Longshots NFL Teams That Could Beat the Odds in 2021

Written by on July 5, 2021

Every year there always seems to be a few NFL teams that didn’t make the playoffs or were eliminated early in the playoffs the season before that play their way into the playoffs and could even make a Super Bowl run.

The 2021 season could have a few of those teams. With teams being able to improve quickly through free agency and the draft, it doesn’t take much to go from the outhouse to the penthouse. Let’s take a look at three teams that are coming off of a subpar 2020-21 season that could make a Super Bowl run in the 2021-22 season. With all that that said, let’s jump right into action so you can plan your bets against their NFL odds.

NFL Predictions: 3 Longshots That Could Go Against All Odds

Dallas Cowboys +2500

Things didn’t go Dallas’s way last season. They lost Dak Prescott for a good portion of the season. Their offensive line had numerous injury issues, the play calling left a lot to be desired, and the defense couldn’t slow anyone down. This past offseason, Jerry Jones addressed some of the issues, and the Cowboys could very well be a playoff team this season.

First off, Prescott is back. He’ll have a great arsenal of offensive weapons at his disposal. If the offensive line can get healthy, Prescott should have a big season. Zeke Elliott has lost weight and has worked on his conditioning, so the Cowboys hope that he can rebound from a poor 2020 season.

Dallas spent a lot of money upgrading their defense this offseason. They made numerous free agent signings and used many of their draft picks on players to help the defense. Dan Quinn will now be in charge of the Dallas defense, and if he can fit the pieces together, the Cowboys’ defense should be much improved.

Los Angeles Chargers +3300

Justin Herbert looks like a star in the making. Coming off of a record-setting rookie season, many are expecting huge things from the second-year signal-caller. The Chargers drafted an offensive lineman with their first pick in the draft, and they also made some upgrades on the offensive line through free agency.

The Chargers defense had some issues last season, so the Los Angeles brass hired a head coach with an extensive defensive background to lead the way. Brandon Staley was hired away from the Los Angeles Rams to lead the Chargers into the future. Staley was the defensive coordinator for a very good Rams defense. If Staley can duplicate that defense across town, the Chargers will be in business.

Arizona Cardinals +3300

Could this be the year that Kyler Murray leads the Arizona Cardinals back to the playoffs? Murray should have a dynamic offensive unit. With DeAndre Hopkins, Larry Fitzgerald, and the newly signed AJ Green at the wide receiver position, and a backfield of James Connor and Chase Edmonds, the Cardinals should be able to score some points.

They made numerous upgrades to the defense in the offseason. Their big signing was JJ Watt. Chandler Jones returns from injury, so the Cardinals pass rush should be one of their strengths. If they can hold the opposition down, they should be in a position to make a playoff run.
