Browns vs Commanders Odds, Pick & Analysis – NFL Week 17 Lines

We’re approaching Week 17 of the 2022 NFL season, which means there aren’t many more chances for clubs to try to make the playoffs. The 6-9 Cleveland Browns vs. 7-7-1 Washington Commanders game will directly influence the postseason seeding, however.

The Commanders need to win in order to maintain their postseason aspirations, while the Browns have already been eliminated from contention. Can the Commanders get back in the win column? Or will the Browns play spoiler in this one? Let’s take a closer look at this matchup along with the NFL Lines

NFL Week 17 Betting Lines and Prediction for Cleveland Browns at Washington

Browns Kevin Stefanski in Hot Seat After being Eliminated from Playoffs

The Cleveland Browns’ loss to the Cincinnati Bengals appeared to put an end to their playoff dreams, but a loss to the Saints 17-10 last week completely eliminated any playoff hopes for the Browns. The Browns will look to finish strong after entering the season with high expectations.

Deshaun Watson’s addition to the active roster was intended to strengthen the Browns‘ offense, but rather than doing that, it has only raised questions about the future of head coach Kevin Stefanski.

Watson has shown extreme rust with three interceptions, and just two touchdown passes in four starts. While the Browns are still trying to figure out the passing game, Nick Chubb has been a steady presence in the backfield with a fourth-best 12 rushing touchdowns on the year.

The Cleveland Browns’ defense has been the lone bright spot for this club. With the help of the cold weather, the Browns have limited opponents to under 244 yards in back-to-back contests while also holding the Saints and Ravens to 20 total points.

Commanders need Win to Stay in the Playoff Hunt

The Washington Commanders have played three games without a victory, but they still have control over their own destiny in their pursuit of an NFC wild card place. On Sunday against the visiting Cleveland Browns, head coach Ron Rivera is making a switch at the quarterback position, and Carson Wentz will take over for Taylor Heinicke under center.

Washington has lost its last three games, going 0-2-1. While Taylor Heinicke has performed admirably since Wentz’s initial injury, the Commanders have placed 20th in points per game and 26th in red zone offense throughout Heinicke’s eight complete starts. Wentz will look to give this team a spark after replacing Heinicke in the fourth quarter last week and throwing a touchdown.

The Commanders will need their defense to come alive in this contest. Washington’s defensive unit has been solid up to this point but conceded 37 points last week to the 49ers. Despite picking up an interception and three sacks, the Commanders’ defense didn’t do enough to keep their offense in the game.

While the Browns certainly have the more talented roster on paper, the Commanders want it more. Deshaun Watson has looked ugly up to this point, with more interceptions than touchdowns, and the Browns have nothing to play for other than pride in this one.

River Boat Ron Rivera should get this Commanders squad back in the win column as they return home with their starting quarterback under center.

The Browns are 1-2 against the spread in their last three games, and Cleveland is only 2-4 on the road this season. The Commanders will utilize a strong rushing attack to control the clock and walk away from this one as winners.

NFL Betting Pick: Commanders -1.5 (-110)
