Two NFC North Division rivals will meet in Minneapolis on Sunday, as the Minnesota Vikings will host the Detroit Lions at U.S. Bank Stadium. Neither team has gotten off to a good start this season, as the Lions come in at 0-4, while the Vikings are sitting at a disappointing 1-3. With all that said, it’s time we take a look at both the Lions and the Vikings so you can get ready to bet against their NFL odds.
NFL Betting Preview for Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings were in a defensive struggle last Sunday, as they lost to the Cleveland Browns 14-7. The Vikings gave up 327 yards of offense to a powerful Browns offense. Not a bad day for Minnesota’s defense, but they could only muster 255 yards of total offense.
Kirk Cousins has been much maligned in his time in the Twin Cities. However, he has played well this season passing for over 1100 yards with nine touchdown passes and just one interception. Cousins has one of the top receiving duos in the league at his disposal, as Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson are a deadly combination. And how can we forget that Minnesota has one of the top rushers in the league in Dalvin Cook. He hasn’t gotten off to a great start, and he missed a game due to injury, but when he is on, he can be the best running back in the league.
This is a huge game for Minnesota. Many had predicted that the Vikings would be a playoff team, but if they continue to dig themselves a big hole, it will be hard for them to get out of.
Detroit Lions
Dan Campbell inherited a team that is nowhere near ready to make a playoff run. Currently sitting at 0-4, the Detroit Lions are just trying to avoid going 0-17. Last offseason, they traded away their franchise quarterback, Matthew Stafford, and in return, received Jared Goff back from the Rams.Goff has played well this season for the Lions, passing for 1100 yards with seven touchdown passes. The Lions have a young, up-and-coming offensive line. Jamaal Williams and D’Andre Swift are a formidable rushing duo. TJ Hockenson is one of the top tight ends in the game, and he has been the Lions’ top receiving threat this season.Defensively, the Lions have been a mess. With numerous injuries, along with a lack of talent, the Lions’ defense could be one of the worst in the league. Until they get things straightened out on that side of the ball, it’s going to be hard for them to win games.Prediction
The Vikings are 7.5-point favorites in this one. When looking at some of the betting numbers, the numbers don’t seem to favor either team. The Lions are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games on the road, while the Vikings are 1-5 against the spread in their last six home games. Be that as it may, we think the Vikings are the better team, and they’ll show that on Sunday. We like the Minnesota Vikings to win this NFC North divisional matchup by a score of 31-20, covering the spread in the process.
