It was an exciting weekend of football, but as we come out the other side, there was only really one surprise to speak of. That was the San Francisco 49ers going into Dallas and knocking off the Cowboys as an underdog. The rest of the Wild Card Weekend went to plan, with the favorites coming out on top in all the other games. This weekend, we have the Divisional Round, which means that the #1 seeds in both conferences will be coming out to play. Will we see another surprise or two this weekend, or will it be the favorites moving on again? Let’s make our picks for all 4 games so you can make your bets against the NFC Divisional odds and the AFC Divisional odds.
Divisional Round Straight-Up Picks for the 2021-22 Season | NFL Betting
Tennessee Titans over Cincinnati Bengals
The long years of poor performances and little hope ended for the Cincinnati Bengals when they won the AFC North this season. It was a surprise to many, but perhaps even more surprising is that they carried that momentum over into the playoffs, taking care of the Las Vegas Raiders in the Wild Card. Things get tougher now, though, as the Bengals need to hit the road to face the #1 seeded Tennessee Titans, who might just have Derrick Henry healthy and ready to go after being out since Week 8. The Bengals have had the best of this matchup, winning 6 of the last 10, but I think they come up short here.
Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers
Very often, we see a team get hot at the end of the season, after which they go on a deep run in the playoffs. The 49ers are looking to be that team this year. They closed out the regular season winning 4 of 5, a run that got them into the playoffs, and then followed that up with a win on the road in the Wild Card against the Dallas Cowboys. They look to be up against it this weekend, though, as the Packers are a very different proposition. Their record against the 49ers speaks for itself, winning 9 of the last 11 meetings at Lambeau Field.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers over LA Rams
There are going to be some who see this matchup as being a little unfair. After all, we don’t usually see a Monday night game in the playoffs, but that is what the Rams had to do, beating Arizona on Monday before heading into the Divisional Round on a short week. With that win, the Rams have now won 6 of their last 7 games, but they will be facing a team that has won 4 in a row and 8 of the last 9. The Buccaneers barely broke a sweat in taking out the Eagles, and while this will be tougher, I think they win this one, too.
Kansas City Chiefs over Buffalo Bills
This is arguably the best of the 4 games on the Divisional Round schedule and certainly the toughest of the 4 to pick. The Kansas City Chiefs had their struggles early in the season, but they are now showing the type of form that has taken them to the last 2 Super Bowls. The Bills have been a little up and down all season long, but their performance against the Patriots last weekend suggests that they are more than up for a run at the Super Bowl. A close one here, but I think the Chiefs edge it.
