Written by on April 7, 2021

While there may be nothing happening on the field, the truth of the matter is that there is always something to report in the world of the NFL. Much of the talk now is about the upcoming draft, which is a little over 3 weeks away. Teams are in the final stages of planning, which includes making moved to add more picks or improve their current position. We are going to see the experts deliver mock drafts after each big move, plus we are almost certainly going to see more trades happen before the new crop of players arrives. Let’s now take a look at what has been making the NFL headlines this past week so you can make your bets and cash in against their NFL odds.

NFL Rumors & Betting News April 7th Edition

Just a few short days after the New York Jets started talking about the potential and upside of QB Sam Darnold, they traded him away to the Carolina Panthers for several draft picks. There was always the feeling that the Jets talking up their QB was little more than them trying to increase his value a little in any upcoming trade. While nothing is written in stone, it is now beginning to look as though the first 3 picks in the 2021 draft will see QBs selected, but there may yet be moves to be made.

It is always interesting to see what high-profile players do after they hang up their pads in the NFL. For many, such as Tony Romo and Drew Brees, it is the broadcast booth that comes calling, with lucrative contracts always on offer for top analysts. Questions being raised this week about the future of Aaron Rodgers suggest that he might be looking at a TV gig as the host of Jeopardy. The Packers QB is playing guest host for a couple of weeks, but there have been suggestions that he might retire and take the gig permanently. That seems like a bit of a longshot, but Rodgers has already stated that he has no interest in an analyst gig.

The case against Houston Texans QB continues to grow, with a couple of his accusers stepping out from behind the mask of anonymity to talk more about the specifics of their claims. As the list of accusers grows, Watson did get a little help from 18 massage therapists that he has worked with in the past, all of whom came forward to say that their time with the QB was nothing but professional. It is an extremely messy situation and one that is not likely to go away anytime soon.

Getting back to the draft and potential deals, the word out of San Francisco is that the 49ers are holding out for a first round pick before they even consider trading QB Jimmy Garoppolo. What they say publicly and what they would actually take are probably different, but it does seem like the first step in trying to broker a deal. Finally, we are still waiting to see where Antonio Brown lands this coming season, as it seems as though the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not willing to pay the money he is asking. There are several teams said to be interested in acquiring his services, but again, money seems to be the sticking point.
