Steelers vs Falcons Odds, Prediction, Analysis – NFL Week 13 Picks

As we head into Week 13 of the NFL season, I’m sure there are several teams with their hands poised atop the panic button. While the playoff races in both conferences are heating up, there are a few teams that are in real danger of falling too far behind to be considered a playoff contender. Sometimes, though, the relative strength or weakness of a specific division can come into play, which is certainly the case when looking at these two teams. They have very similar records to this point in the season, but while the Steelers look to be out of the playoff race, the Falcons are still very much in it, thanks in large part to how poor the NFC South has been this season. Still, this is a game that the Falcons need, but they are in as a 1-point home underdog. The point total for this one is set a 42. Let’s take a closer look at this game and give you the best bets for this matchup along with a NFL Betting prediction.

Why bet on the Pittsburgh Steelers

This was always going to be a trying season for the Pittsburgh Steelers as they looked to transition to a new QB after the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger. Combine that with some salary cap issues and you have the perfect storm for a potentially bad season. The Steelers are at 4-7 after their Monday night win over the Colts, and while that is far from where they want to be, there are some definite signs that Kenny Pickett is adjusting to life as an NFL QB. The rookie looks a lot more comfortable now and is developing a great partnership with WR George Pickens. Atlanta has been a good stop for Pittsburgh, who have won 5 of their last games there. They have also been a great bet against the NFC South in general, going 7-0 ATS in their last 7 versus that division. The UNDER has hit in 12 of their last 18 played in December.

Why bet on the Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons came into this season in a very similar spot to the Steelers in that they were heading into a new era after veteran QB Matt Ryan made the move to Indianapolis. Atlanta had a pretty decent start to the season, but they have cooled off of late, losing 3 of their last 4 to fall to 5-7. Ordinarily, that would not be ideal, but that record still has them in with a shot at winning the South, as it’s a division that no one seems to want to top. If there is a positive to be found for the Falcons this season, it’s that they have been good at home, going 4-1 SU in their outings in Mercedes Benz Stadium. They are, though, just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 overall and 1-9 ATS in their last 10 meetings with teams from the AFC North. The UNDER has hot in 6 of their last 9.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I am going to go against the trends a little with this one and take the OVER. I am also going to take the Steelers to get the win on the road as they look to build some momentum heading down the home stretch.
