Aly went off as a +2 ½ underdog. The ½ a goal, like we suspected, was the difference in the match. On Thursday, Ahl Aly looks to beat Palmeiras and claim third in the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup. It won’t be easy for Ahl Aly to reach their goal.
To be sure, Palmeiras’ form heading into last week’s matches didn’t match that of Ahl Aly’s. But Palmeiras is the third-ranked team in Brazil, the most soccer-crazy nation on the planet. Aly hails from Egypt. Although they’re the top-ranked squad in Egypt, teams in their country aren’t close to teams in Brazil.
With that being written, Ahl Aly has a shot. The odds make them an overlay. Also, Palmeiras won’t be as psyched for this third-place match as Aly. The best team in Egypt figures to beat one of the best from Brazil in the Club World third-place match.

The championship doesn’t have as much drama as the third-place match. Tigres U.A.N.L is the top-ranked club team in Mexico. But the underdog faces the best club team in the world on Thursday.
Bayern Munich ranks ahead of Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris St-Germain. Bayern should squash Tigres by at least 3 goals. In some matches, when BM feels like turning it on, Bayern has beaten teams by 5 to 6 goals.
There is one positive for U.A.N.L., though. Thursday’s battle will be Bayern’s third in the past 6 days. On Feb. 5, Bayern beat Hertha Berlin 1-0. Then on Feb. 8 they beat Al Ahly 2-0.
The door won’t open far enough for Tigres to get the win. But the door may be open enough for us to back the underdog on the handicap. Bayern could dominate by two goals for sure.
Then again, the third match in a row could lead Munich to take it easy after going up 1-0. Bayern is back it at four days after this against Arminia Bielefeld. So on Thursday we shouldn’t expect Bayern to destroy the best team in Mexico.
