Soccer Odds & Top Picks of the Week – December 18th

Written by on December 18, 2017

Many of the top domestic leagues in Europe have now officially shut down for the winter break, but that does not mean that soccer has ground to a halt. This is the time of year in England when rather than easing up for a few weeks, the games start to come faster than ever. The Premier League betting action will be in full swing throughout the holiday season, and there are a bunch of games on tap over the next few days. We will be covering many of the games in-depth, but for now, let’s do a quick look around to see what games there are for you to wager on, including their respective Soccer odds.

Soccer Odds & Top Picks of the Week – December 18th

Everton vs. Swansea

  • When: Monday, December 18, 3:00 p.m.
  • Tournament: English Premier League
  • Soccer Odds: Everton -0.5
When Ronald Koeman was sacked as manager, Everton was in the relegation zone and sinking fast. Since the arrival of big Sam Allardyce, things have changed for the Toffees, and they now find themselves sitting in 10th place with 22 points. Monday afternoon will see them welcome Swansea to Goodison Park, with the team from Wales sitting firmly at the bottom of the table. Swansea has just 1 win in 8 away games this season, managing only 4 goals in those trips. Everton is on a decent run of form now and should pick up another 3 points here. Score: Everton 2 – Swansea 0

Arsenal vs. West Ham

  • When: Tuesday, December 19, 2:45 p.m.
  • Tournament: EFL Cup
  • Soccer Odds: Arsenal -1
These two great London rivals will set league plays aside for a minute as they head into EFL Cup action on Tuesday night. These two actually just met a few days ago in the Premier League, with that game ending in a 0-0 tie. I think we can expect more in the way of goals here, as this is a good opportunity for one of these teams to move on and maybe collect some silverware this season. West Ham has improved under new manager David Moyes, but I still think Arsenal will be too much for them. Score: Arsenal 2 – West Ham 1

Chelsea vs. Bournemouth

  • When: Wednesday, December 20, 2:45 p.m.
  • Tournament: EFL Cup
  • Soccer Odds: Chelsea -1.5
We have more EFL Cup action to look forward to on Wednesday, and once again we have a pair of Premier League teams going head to head. Chelsea has been in good form for most of the season, and are currently sitting in third in the league, whereas Bournemouth finds themselves in the thick of the relegation battle. According to the latest Soccer Odds, Chelsea is the clear favorite over Bournemouth. It is likely that Chelsea will play a lot of bench guys in this one, but given the depth of the said bench, they are still going to have a strong side out on the field. Chelsea has won 4 of their 5 meetings with Bournemouth, including the last 4 in a row. Even with a weakened side, they should take that streak to 5. Score: Chelsea 3 – Bournemouth 1

PSG vs. Caen – Wednesday

  • When: Wednesday, December 20, 2:50 p.m.
  • Tournament: French Ligue 1
  • Soccer Odds: PSG  -3
Let’s move away from England and head to France for some Ligue 1 action on Wednesday night. PSG and their ridiculously talented squad of players are starting to open up what looks to be an unassailable lead at the top of the league, but there may be a reason to suggest that Caen may be able to slow them down. The last meeting between these two ended in a 1-1 tie, which was a huge surprise given that PSG had won the previous 3 meetings by a combined score of 15-0. I think normal service will be resumed in this one, with PSG winning quite easily. Score: PSG 4 – Caen 0
