2018 Ford EcoBoost 400 Odds, Preview & Expert Pick

Written by on November 16, 2018

After another exciting year, the NASCAR season will come to an end this coming Sunday, November 18 at the famed Homestead-Miami track. The 2018 Ford EcoBoost 400 will serve as the final race of the season, with 4 drivers now in with a shot at winning the championship. It will be these 4 drivers that we will be taking a closer look at in this piece, with much of our attention being paid to how they have performed on this track in the past. It may well end up being that familiarity and past performance that makes all the difference this Sunday afternoon.

If you want to catch all the action, you can do so by tuning in to NBC at 3 PM EST on Sunday. Now, let’s take a closer look at the 4 championship contending drivers alongside the latest NASCAR odds

2018 Ford EcoBoost 400 Betting Preview & Expert Pick

  • Venue: Homestead-Miami Speedway
  • Location: Homestead, Florida, United States
  • Surface: Asphalt
  • First race: 1999
  • Laps: 267
  • Most wins (driver): Greg Biffle/Tony Stewart (3)
  • Most wins (team): Roush Fenway Racing (7)

Joey Logano

  • Odds to Win the 2018 Ford EcoBoost 400: +170
Logano has raced at Homestead on 9 separate occasions, but he has yet to come up with a win there. He has been close a few times, though, landing in the top 10 4 out of the last 5 times he raced there, including a pair of 4th place finishes. The question now is whether that type of finish would be enough to get him the NASCAR championship crown. He does have 1 win in the Sprint Cup series, as well as a pair of stage wins. While Logano has been steady and solid at Homestead, his lack of wins there makes me think that we should be looking elsewhere for the winner.

Kyle Busch

  • Odds to Win the 2018 Ford EcoBoost 400: +220
Busch is coming into the final race of the year after winning last week, giving him a pair of race wins and a stage win in the series. He has also been a solid performer at Homestead over the past 3 years, winning once, taking a second-place finish once, and landing in the top 6 in his other run at Homestead.

Busch has been on fire all season long, and I think he is the man to beat this weekend. In 2 of the last 3 races at Homestead, Busch led for over 40 laps, so he is going to be tough to take down if he can get to the front early.

Kevin Harvick

  • Odds to Win the 2018 Ford EcoBoost 400: +220

While Busch would appear to be the man with the inside track this weekend, I am putting my money on Kevin Harvick to hoist the Sprint Cup. He has had an outstanding season, but it is his performances at Homestead that make me believe he will win here.

Kevin Harvick is one of the favorites to win the 2018 Ford EcoBoost 400.

In his 17 previous runs there, he has landed in the top 10 no less than 14 times. That’s an absolutely staggering stat, especially when you consider that he has 1 win and 8 top 3 finishes in amongst those stats. His sole win there came back in 2015, but he has been top 5 in each of his last 5 races there.

Martin Truex Jr.

  • Odds to Win the 2018 Ford EcoBoost 400: +400
While Truex Jr. is listed as the outsider among the top 4 drivers, he may well prove to be a very good bet.

It was Truex Jr. who took the checkered flag at this race last season, which was a bit of a surprise given that he had not been particularly competitive there in the 3 years previous. That said, he does also have 6 top 10 finishes to go with his lone win, so certainly worth a look.
